Covid on treatment
Hi Lind58, wishing you a happy and healthy new year also. Donna U.S. xx
Had Covid 13 Dec 21 about 4 weeks after final sixth carbotaxol. Was very mild, lasted about 3 days and never felt really ill. Much less than a cold. Presumably Omnicrom. Had been fully boosted. Got monulparivir anti viral capsules for the vulnerable couriered round from the infectious diseases doctor at UCLH, my hospital, on 5th day and cough got swiftly better. So, really not much of a problem at all. Think I got it when I had MRI as very self isolating and don’t know anyone who had been near anyone positive. The carbotaxol certainly had wiped me out and had had 10 hour op on 14 Oct. and a week in hospital at end Nov fir low sodium so was not in the most robust health when I got Covid. Take heart!
I got COVID on Christmas Day and I’m in isolation. Covid hasn’t been too bad, but I’m not sure what are covid symptoms and what are cancer symptoms. I’m sweating very heavily at night which I thought was fever but now think it might be caused by my cancer, also my lack of appetite and tummy discomfort. I was diagnosed in January 2020 with stage 3c and have had 6 cycles of carbo/taxol followed by surgery and 2 more cycles of carbo/taxol. Nariparib didn’t help, I am BRCA negative and I had a recurrence in January 2021. 6 cycles of caelyx/carbo finishing in September. Since then I have had more symptoms and a rising CA125. I’ve had a scan on 23rd December and am due to see the specialist on 5th January if I’m free of covid by then. Somehow I don’t think it will be good news, but I’ll just have to keep going.Kathy
Is anyone at home with you Kathy ? Maybe call help line to discuss if it's cancer or covid? Sending love and hope for results 😘
There is someone on here on a PARP inhibitor, think it was Rucaparib, who got Covid in 2020, or maybe early in 2021, before anti viral treatments were available and before Omicron. She was poorly for a while, but recovered, don't think she needed hospital care for it.
I wasn't aware I had contracted it but was invited to take an antibody test for cancer patients back in September. The results came back as vaccine antibodies being present as Well as infection antibodies!!apparently this meant that I had contracted COVID in the previous 6 months. I was shocked. As for symptoms?? Difficult with so many chemo side effects going on. The only place I went outside of the house has been hospital or in my car for a drive. Visitors to house are all asked to LFT. Have had contact with 8 year old and 5 year old grand children. (Possible suspects!!) Hubby and I had been taking LFT twice weekly when he was in work until July. We now do at least once a week due to him no longer eig in work but still going out shopping. Have gone back to online shop as much as possible since December. Quite scary to think we have been so careful and yet still got it. Thankfully not seriously. Have just been offered 4th vaccine which if ok with oncologist I will have on 12th Jan. Anti viral's iw available to cancer patients who contract it to try and avoid hospitalisation.
