Moving to another area

Good afternoon ladies,

Is there anyone on here that attends Worcester Royal Hospital, Oncology dept. We will be moving to the area at the beginning of June. Originally thought we would be in Gloucestershire, but the new house is just over the border into Worcestershire. I don't know Worcester hospital at all & would be interested if anyone can give me advice about Oncology there. I am on Rucaparib so will need to transfer fairly quickly so that I can continue with this treatment, along with the blood tests, I am finding this to be quite daunting.

Thank you in advance,

Hi Caleda4 I’m from Evesham and I’ve had all my treatment at Worcester Royal , couldn’t speak highly enough of them , The oncologist is a lovely caring man who really stays on top of the game and has rang me every time I’ve had chemo and asked about symptoms etc and lowered my dose of Paxil after I had a reaction and after my abnormal CT scan wanted me to have anMRI and after not hearing nothing he sent a further two e mails saying the importance . The Macmillan nurses are lovely and are always at the end of the phone , with a left message they have always rang me back within a few hours . Rowan suite is where you’ll have chemo and maintenance etc and the girls are lovely , professional and work really hard , also if you don’t use your own practice you can ring up sorrell suite for prompt taking of bloods . I had to go to Cheltenham for my debulking operation but the surgeons I was under once again I couldn’t fault . I haven’t had much dealings within the oncology unit itself apart from a few meetings but once again I couldn’t find anything to complain about . I’ve just been told I haven’t got any sign of cancer at the moment and will just be on Avastin for maintenance every 3 weeks but want to reassure you you’ll be in very good hands so good luck on your journey xx

Hi, Thank you so much for your detailed reply, it is very much appreciated. I have been very apprehensive about changing Oncologists so you have certainly re assured me which is a great help . I am on a parp inhibitor which is only allowed to be prescribed by an Oncologist, so my current Oncologist is going to give me a letter detailing my case notes etc. I hope that you continue to stay well yourself.

Hi. I am in Worcester and agree with everything above. I don't have much experience, only about a month or so but so far have found everyone in the hospital very kind and supportive. I did my chemo at WRH a week ago and the nurses in Rowan were lovely.

Thank you for your reply. I am feeling much more confident about our move now. Probably if it was another department I probably would not have been so worried.
