Hi I’m awaiting the result of my ca125 blood test but I wanted to ask a question about the bloating - does the bloating increase as the day goes on or evident first thing in the morning, I have a 3.7 cm cyst on the ovary but last 2 weeks very full feeling even before eating and consequently after too , I have a tv scan next Saturday, quite worried at the moment, any advice would be welcomed, thanks Cath

Hi CathI am guessing this is either the cyst or perhaps the beginning of ascities (liquid buildup in the abdomen).

Just going on the swelling I have in my legs atm.. I would say that when you have swelling loose in the body it can vary during the day because it will settle overnight when you are lying down and then migrate down wards when you are up and on your feet.

I would suggest that you contact your Doctor and make sure they know that you are uncomfortable and unable to eat normally. Even if they decline to act now... you have put a marker in the sand and hopefully things will speed up xx

Hi Lyndy , the cyst is fairly small at 3.7 cm , I only have the swelling in my abdomen and I feel full all the time which has only been the last 2 weeks, there is definitely something going on as not felt like this before plus lower pelvic pain when trying to go toilet x

Hi Cath, looking back I found bloating gradually increased and appetite decreased over about 6 weeks and then the ascities started and it didn’t go down. They gave me codeine for the discomfort and it definitely made it more bearable. Talk to your doc and fingers crossed for the scan. Xx

Hi Cathunt not too sure about your medical history but I would push for a ct scan as it could explain your symptoms better. I would mention to the gp or your gynaecologist could this be ascites. If you use the Cancer word it might encourage them to follow it up. This doesn’t mean you have it but a means to put the ball in their court and take it more seriously. And if it is the cyst then you’ll know. Good luck xx

Thank you for your reply , I think a ct scan is needed - the bloating has come on suddenly which I’m bit worried about and going to the toilet is more difficult and painful

Sometimes the gp can send you with a letter to AE for scan to rush things if you want I had this but I’m BRCA 2 and had higher ca 125 blood result or if your feeling in pain I suppose you could go yourself if nothing comes of gp and mention you think it could be ascites and again the c word. But remember it all could be cyst or something else . Wishing you wellXx

I remember having a cyst which grew bigger and also had ascites. Also, going to the toilet became more difficult. All those symptoms you mentioned I had. Hopefully, the scan will reveal what needs to be done. After having a hysterectomy the ascites disappeared fairly quickly. Hope all goes well.

I had stage 3b. Went through alot before and after in 2015. Everyone is different and you will just have to be patient. That is the hard part. I am doing all the normal things and trying to keep fit and healthy. Let me know if you need anymore advice. I used to keep a diary and wrote down everything they discussed.

Hi , I’m sorry to hear that so your ‘cyst’ was stage 3b instead , I’m awaiting the ca125 result but it’s the sudden boating that’s appeared suddenly that’s making me think it’s more as I’ve had a follicle cyst there before with no bloating at all
