Hello All Lovely Ladies. Great sibject to discuss: bloating... I am 6 months post Carbo Paclitaxel due to stage 1a mixed epithelial origin ca. I am freaking out about the amount of bloating i suffer with. Theres no sweliing in my abdomen just contstant gas and farting (sorry..) after every meal. I do have a high fibre diet but no doubt i freak out about reoccurance:/ i have 2nd ct scan in January. How are your guts after chemo? Bare in mind zi do drink home made kefir which used to help but not anymore. Big hugs for a weekend☺

Hi I have had chemo, surgery and just finished 18 cycles of Avastin and I have never known wind like it it seems every time I move I blow off!! I will soon be able to cancel my supply of gas to the house as I have enough of my own. Seriously though it can be very embarrassing and sometimes quite uncomfortable but better out than in. Love to everyone on here I found this web site over a year ago and find it so informative when you realise that other folks suffer from the same problems as you. I don't post very often but read every day. Positive thoughts for all. xxxxx

Hi Marta. I sympathize with you. My guts require constant close surveillance since chemo. Bit like a colicky baby, grmpf.

What about the old hospital stand-by - peppermint tea? Does that help? Else you could maybe try reducing the veggies/fibre a little, one at a time, to find out which of them cause the bother...

Hope the guts settle down soon. XX. Maus

Hi Marta, me too (plus the burping!), not helped by 25 sessions of radiotherapy after my chemo finished. My digestion wasn’t right after surgery & chemo & the radiotherapy finished it off! I’m not a huge believer in alternative therapies but I’ve had 2 lots of acupuncture & cannot believe the difference it has made! I’ve had it to try to counteract the debilitating effect all the treatments have had - the downside is that it is expensive but I have definitely found it is helping my digestion. I was put on a low fibre diet during radiotherapy & have been able to come off it.

It could be coincidence, or timing but I do think it has helped, maybe worth a try?

Wishing you the very best xxxx

Hi Marta, sorry to hear about your tummy issues. I am the opposite! Digestion, etc, has never been better! That area greatly

improved since surgery and since a long time before surgery. Hope u can find a solution - it’s probably your diet...what about trying an over the counter remedy - ask pharmacist for advice? I can’t paste the link but perhaps check out the NHS page on bloating - might give you some other pointers? ..all good wishes, Mel xx

Hello Marta, I'm on Carbo Taxol and Avastin for stage 3c clear cell and had lots of very bad tummy pain, bloating and constant wind. I spoke to the nurse and she said trapped wind can be super painful so definitely better put than in. I was also using a high fibre diet to keep everything moving but she has suggested going the other direction, move to a low fibre diet and use laxatives for a week (docusate sodium and laxido) then reintroduce fibre slowly. I'm on my first day today and will see how it works. You might want to mention it to yournurse and see if this is an option for you. Good luck x

Hi Paclitaxel does that some people and its not nice with strong urges to pass wind. As Chrissy said it was wind in the pillows! What I did find helped a lot was Charcoal tablets. You may get blackish stool but that is to be expected.

Hi. Maybe try what other people here have said and go onto low fibre (with something like Laxido to keep things moving) for while? See if you can get referred to the hospital dietician who can discuss that in far more detail than the doctors and nurses in your clinic.

Hi

I too suffered badly with bloating when I walked I sounded terrible with the noise I made as when I passed by people it was so embarrassing

My specialist suggested that I use oil of peppermint tablets. I’ve been using them since and the wind has greatly reduced. On a plus it’s also aided bloating
