Im panicking a bit, having pain in left side of abdomen for the past few days. Got v large tumour. Its not given me any pain previously except for after 1st caelyx/carbo treatment when I ended up in Hospital (may not have been the chemo) . Had 4 chemos now no problems except vertigo !, just pondering if its the chemo again or its not working and the tumour is growing. Hospital failed to take CA125 marker last blood test so dont know if its going up or down and got appointment with consultant end of the week. Dont know why Im posting really I suppose Ive got to hang on till appointment, needed to get worry out of my head !

Sorry no advice but always a good idea to bounce your thoughts off someone else , takes the pressure off! Amazing what conversations my cat has to listen to 😄Seriously though if you find the pain is increasing phone your nurse & have a chat , a week is too long to spend worrying .Big hugs .Dee x

Have you considered that the pain may be the chemo killing the cancer? I get very definite pain in cancer sites when chemo is at work x

Hi Rosebine! You’re posting because you’re anxious. That’s what we do on this site. Getting feedback from ladies who’re going through the same problems is amazingly helpful. I had the same pain as you last week. The oncologist said it could be the chemo working (hope so) and prescribed Dexamethasone which seemed to work within a day. Not had any pain since. It’s scary at the time and obviously the first thing we think is the tumours are growing. I hope you’re feeling a little calmer by now. This disease is one big string of worry, worry, worry.

Lots of love and peace of mind

Hi rosebine. I had lot of pain after 3rd carbo caylex. Went for ct scan it's kidney stones, very painful. But the upside. Chemo working and cancer shrinking. Just drinking loads of water. I worry every pain is tumours growing, this time cancer treatment so worrying with covid, goodluck to you and hope your chemo works well for you

Hi Rosebine

I think we are all on high alert for every little twinge, pain, gripe or anything we feel might be related to the beast growing, I know I am. It’s not a good place to be, how can we relax when we are so worried, so totally understandable. I’ve only had 6 bouts of pain from the start and 2 of those were before diagnosis and 2 while on chemo.

Try to be positive about it and believe it’s the chemo doing it’s job.

Hope it’s not too bad for you going forward.

Take care

Christine x

Hi Rosebine. I totally get the worry. Could you ask them to order a CA 125 test so your consultant would have the results before your appointment? Fingers crossed it’s the tumor dying. Xx

Im going to take myself over for an extra blood test tomorrow so consultant should have it

although I suppose the CT scan will show whats happening. We are always waiting for results arent we would be nice not to have to think about it for a while. Now we are in lockdown again theres not much else to take our minds off things. My bucket list was well and truly cancelled this year.

So sorry you're having pain. I get given Dexamethasone to have for 3 days after chemo (4 a day) - a steroid.

CA125 - they hardly ever seem to check.

I've been asking to have BRCA test after a nurse mentioned it to me & gave me a leaflet. Each time I go in I say this and it never gets done because they do the bloods *before* the appointment. It's Catch-22 - I've asked via phone as well. Last time they said I had to fill in a consent form and talk it through. This now won't get done till next time - if *I* remember.

Lots of love and hope you feel better.
