If the result of CA125 is low prior to surgery, does that mean no OC?

Not necessarily. The CA125 is not relevant for everyone. Have you had a scan?

No it’s not a reliable marker for everyone I am afraid. Mine was 12 at diagnosis. I hope you will be ok. x

Very unfortunately this may not be the case.

The CA 125 levels are not always associated with accurate status of OC. Many women had advanced stages with normal CA 125 and/or just above the range.

The scans, MRI and then the surgery will confirm the staging and spread.

What do the scans say?

I have the opposite situation, mine doesn't show on scans but my CA125 goes up and down. It's complicated. Good luck Sue xx

I believe ca 125 is raised in many ladies with oc, but not always. I have been dealing with a recurrence for about 3 years, & last week my ca 125 was 7. Di

Not necessarily, the CA125 test is just one part of the whole diagnostic process and it isn’t always high at diagnosis. Mine wasn’t exceptionally high.

Good luck ❤️Xx Jane

So sorry but no a low ca125 dies not always indicate no cancer. It's different for everyone. At my first diagnosis I was told that my ca125 wasn't all that high for stage 3c. I wasnt given a stage until after surgery. At my recurrence diagnosis it has always been within normal parameters. However, it was moving upwards - sometimes what it is doing is more important than the actual numbers. Have you been offered surgery. ? Have you been given any more tests/results other than ca125?

Unfortunately no. Mine was 8 at diagnosis. Two years later after one recurrence the highest it’s been was 20 after surgery and 10 at recurrence. I had a PET scan before my surgery which showed lots of cancer.

Sadly no mine was well under guidelines but was diagnosed with stage 2C in 2002 recurrence this year and CA125 still under guidelines. Have you checked you are not allergic to gluten my daughter bloated like this. She was checked for allergy but none found but does not eat any food with gluten and vast improvement. Just a thought.
