Hi

Normal range of ca 125 is 0 -35,so anything higher needs investigating.

Hi, some cancers never ever reveal themselves with the CA125. I have a rare form of ovarian cancer, clear cell borderline, and it never showed in bloodwork.

It differs from person to person. I was diagnosed as 3C and was 125. At recurrence I was only 25. In remission I hover at 11. I see people in the 1000’s the same as me. I think we all have a different norm.

this is true. I was surprised I tested 45 at diagnosis of 3B and 85 at a recurrence. I researching I realized CA125 can reach the thousands.

It’s just not really a good marker for some and doesn’t reflect how advanced or not your OC is. But it’s helpful when it changes over a period of months. Then concern should kick in. That’s why it’s monitored. Hugs, Jill

Normal is below 35, so anything above 35 should be investigated further. I've seen readings as high as 20,000. Mine was 680 at diagnosis and has hovered between 4 and 15 since completing treatment. But the CA125 test is not sufficiently reliable or specific to make a diagnosis. It MUST be followed up with scans.

Typically a Ca125 less than 35 is considered normal

Do not put too much worry regarding your CA 125. It is simply a marker and the only way of knowing a true reoccurrence is by scanning. My ca125 was between 150 and 950 for 15 years. Most of the time it was over 200.

This is so reassuring!!!! Mine bounces up and down between 10 and 28, but just went to 36. I panicked. But something else drives mine up, and then it comes down. So 36 may be OK, even though it crossed the magic threshold of 35. Like others have said, it bears investigating, but I was literally on the verge of speeding up my purchase of a burial plot!

This is good to read, mine has not dropped at all since surgery/chemo and is currently sitting at 730 with a clear scan only 4 months ago. It really plays on my mind, as everyone else’s seems to immediately drop back down and mine never has!

in the US, anything over 35 should be investigated. Good luck!

My CA125 was 16,080 upon diagnosis in Jan 2021. Each round of chemo I had, it would reduce by around 40%, was still over 200 when I went in for debulking surgery June 2021…and was down to 55 only 2 weeks after surgery. I am on Naraparib since Sept 2021 and it has consistently floated around 19-26 for almost 18 months now.

From what I understand, it is a marker that can be affected by any swelling or various other things and concern should be paid to if it has a rising “trend” over time…but it is not always a marker for all ovarian cancer patients. I have read here that some ladies have been diagnosed and their CA125 was still under what they determine to be normal range of 35.
