Kidney problems

Hi all. Since my operation in 2016, I have had recurring issues with urine inflections, which I now manage pretty well with probiotics. When tested however there are always white cells present in my urine, although I show no symptoms. I have had a cystoscopy done recently, though not had the results yet, and have now been referred for a kidney scan with contrast. The appointment has come through, and it is in the oncologist department. Obviously alarm bells are ringing.

Has anyone else had their cancer spread to the bladder or kidneys?

Hi Jenny. I think urinary infections are really common in women with OC. Mum has had them continuously since her diagnosis in 2010 and in all honesty, these have probably been more of an issue than the cancer! Mums cancer is on the ureter but has not spread to kidney or bladder. She is also under the care of a urologist for the management of the urinary problems.

I would hope that all will go okay with scan, if they find the urtherer is damaged in any way, they can put in a stent. I had this done in May and it worked well. Recently got it replaced, they have to be replaced every six months under ga. I did get uti and kidney infection before replacement. Wishing you well

Dear Jenny, I have OC stage 3c, diagnosed April/May 2018. I've had frequent UTI's for at least 8 years and have antibiotics to treat them. Several appointments with the Urologist have not solved the problem. Oddly enough I have been for my 4th cycle of chemo today following a first recurrence and started with yet another UTI the minute I arrived home. I certainly think OC exasperates the problem. I've tried probiotics but unfortunately I forget to reorder and use constantly. Thank you for the reminder, I'll start again tomorrow.
