Protein: Just been to get my last cycle of... - My Ovacome
Protein
HI Bobbyo1 the story about Avastin is that if they find protein in your urine, they tend to give you a break from it for a while. If this was your last cycle, well I wouldnt worry too much. Avastin has that side effect and once you stop the protein make go away. So you got one big bottle for the 24 hours. That doesnt make sense, they should have given you a few bottles and you use them and write the time on them, that way to me would be more measured but I am not a medic. Maybe the bottle you used was contaminated and that would also give a funny reading. I wish you well on your endeavours to fill that gallon tank haha, I know its not funny but we do put up with a lot dont we
Thanks for your reply they said at the hospital start tomorrow from the second wee the morning and the last wee the following day the at the same time had phone them to. See if this was right but had no answer I think it means me staying in tomorrow. As it would. Have been easier to. Use small bottles. So here's to putting a tiger in my tank
There are tests the medics do which require a 24hr urine. Best to ask them .Good luck x
Hi Bobbyo1
I've not been required to do a 24 hr urine, but from experience in my previous life as a Nurse, the 24 hr urine is exactly that - all the urine produced over a 24 hour period - hence the large container you were given.
If you have been given instructions, you should follow these to ensure the test is accurate, but if you are a bit unsure maybe the following would help. Empty your bladder in the morning ( don't save that urine) say at 8 am. From that point on until 8 am the next day when you empty your bladder again, all urine should be saved in the container.Don't pass urine directly into the container though because it contains specific preservatives. Make sure that you date and time the container with start and end times. Hope this is helpful.

What do you mean. Not directly into bottle I used a funnel I did this before. I read your post. I hope this was alright I phone the emergency number to ask what to do but thanks for getting. Back to me
Hi BobbyO. I too got that large container complete with funnel 4 years ago to take a 24 hour sample. The samples are supposed to be mixed. What I didn't realise was that included in the kit was a smaller bottle to decant into and I presume the rest should be discarded. However the nurse didn't bat an eyelid when she took the large container from me. I only realised what I should have done when I found the smaller sample bottle with the instructions wrapped around it after I came home. Sorry for delay in reply and the very best of luck

I hope that I didn't confuse you Bobby but that was my experience. So many different methods by the various hospitals has now made me confused and it's not the first time ! I guess ringing them and asking them is the only way of finding out for sure. Take care.
