I have recently started Anastrazole and Adcal and Alendronic Acid tablets for bone density. My cancer is progressing and I don't believe the Anastraxole is having any positive effect. I also have a morphine patch for pain relief.
In the last week I find that I am not urinating as frequently as usual though have not changed my fluid intake, and when I do pass water, it is very dark, almost brown.
Do you think the cancer has spread to my bladder or one of my medications is affecting it? I am away from home at present but should be seeing my oncologist next week.

Oh, Jenny. I have not taken the drugs you mentioned, but brown urine is concerning. Could be caused by different conditions. I don’t think you should wait until next week to see your oncologist. Call your doctor’s nurse to advise of this development, or go to emergency room if you can’t reach someone. Had your doctor cautioned that brown urine is to be expected? I have a sister with kidney issues. I tend to err on the side of caution. Please keep us posted. Sashay
Hi Jenny. I agree with Sashay that as soon as you get home you should call your nurse or go to A and E. It’s possible the drugs are affecting your kidneys. I know nothing about those drugs but brown urine is concerning. Safe travels! Xx
The best thing you can do to aid your kidneys is to keep well hydrated, according to my nephrologist. Always have a beverage at hand and sip away throughout the day, whether you are actually thirsty or not. Do get this issue checked out! All the best - Deb in Colorado
Hi Jenny I've ony just seen your post , I've been away and had internet problems, I hope you are ok and have got your problems sorted out , thinking of you .xxCheryl
Thank you. I have greatly increased my fluid intake and things seem to be ok. I think the problem is that as the cancer is progressing, I don't feel like eating or drinking. I now try to keep a glass of water by me.
