Ca125& fever infection

Hello, hope everyone is doing fine. I wanted to understand if any fever and infection can cause an increase in CA125. My mom had fever due to a mild infection in her body . She took antibiotics and a week later she went for blood test, her CA125 doubled compared two weeks ago! Please advise if anybody has the same experience . However, she is going to have her last chemo tomorrow and her CA125 dropped to 13 and stayed at 13/5 from two months ago , now 27/9. Many thanks

Hi. Try not to worry too much. My mum gets regular infections and the Dr always tells her it can affect her CA125. Her infections are typically UTIs so not sure if she had, say a chest infection, that the same would happen. Xx

Thanks for your response, but I do not believe my mom has chest infection. But she had kinda flu and fever, to be honest not sure where exactly was her infection. They did Urine test. If you do not mind me asking did you test her CA125 during those period to see fluctuations ? Thanks

Hi, I guess what I was trying to say that I think if the infection is more pelvic area that it may be more likely to impact CA 125. That said, I'm no expert but I do know that Mum's 125 does fluctuate when she has an infection. xx

I had constipation and bowel issues and mine rose from 11 to 29. One month later back to 22 and a month after that back to 11.

Hi Sara, I have never personally had an infection which raised my Ca125, however when my cancer first returned and I phoned the specialist nurses it was the first few questions they asked whether I had an infection etc, so it definitely does cause a raise in it.

Sending you lots of love 💕 hugs 🤗 and warm wishes to you all.

Tracy xx

I don't know if a fever can affect CA125 but I was told that CA125 fluctuates a lot. It's just a coincidence or luck that mine is always 8. The good news is that her CA125 is low. xx

Yes- I have Rheumatoid disease which causes inflammation in the body and it makes my ca125 readings less reliable and often higher than normal xx

Hi, infections are commonly known to increase the CA125 reading, it should return back to where it was before she had the infection and fever once the infection has gone, an infection in any part of the body can affect the CA125, I hope her last chemo stays just that way, her last one and that she gets well and has good results for a long time to come . ❤️Xx Jane
