Hey, i wrote a blog about a month ago, about my dx on the 26th feb 2011o about my ovarian cancer at stage3b, i also talked about my mother being a BRCA1 carrier which myself, family n doctors were all nearly sure i was a carrier, i reciveved my genetic results and what i have is a borderline cancer, im a not a BRCA1 carrier, this means im 1 in every 10.000 in 10 years. Im a week and 2 days out of surgery, and 4 days out of hospital, i felt i would recover better at home, the morphine made me feel like i was going crazy, My scar is from my pelvic up to my chest im having 45 staples taken out today :/ but people have told me it doesnt really hurt hopefully! The doctors think it couldnt have gone any better, they have removed the tumour, and because its borderline i will not be needed any chemo if i was a BRCA1 carrier it would be a different story, im really glad its nearly all over with i know ovarian cancer wil always b a part of my life but im going to look at it in a positive way and keep my head held high, i wish the best to any1 going through a tough time but theres always light at the end of the tunnel

After Op: On road to recovery... :)
Hi Jasmine,
Just wanted to say well done for staying positive it is a hard path your on, but being positive not only helped me keep focused during everything but helped those around me. I was diagnosed shortly after turning 29 and today have seen my consultant and am fortunately all clear 1 year after finishing Chemo. Stay strong, I wish you all the best. As you so rightly said there is always light at the end of the tunnel.

Brilliant news!!
The removal of the staples really does not hurt! I was dreading it and worried, but it was a breeze - and so nice to get rid of them.
Keep smiling.
Isadora.
Hi Jasmine
Well done for having come this far. You sound as if you've coped remarkably! I hope the staple removal is as painless as mine was. I had borderline ovarian cancer 8 years ago, and didn't need any chemo or radiotherapy afterwards. I got over the op fairly quickly once I was home. You're right, it is easier there, but don't be tempted to do too much. You need to look after yourself carefully. Your body and mind have been through a big shock. I found swimming and walking helped, about four weeks after I came home from hospital. I felt increasingly well afterwards too, the tiredness and general feeling of things not being quite right lifted quickly. However I was tired after the anaesthetic and morphine, so needed afternoon naps for about 6 weeks after. I went back to work after four months. I'm retired now, but feel great! May your recovery be good also. Let me know how things are going
Love, Wendy x
Hi Jasmine
I had 57 staples (sorry to top your 45!!) removed on February 14th and it was pretty painless - just the odd one a little more reluctant than the rest. I'm 8 weeks out of surgery and back for 3 more cycles of chemo to gather up any rogue cells. Everything has gone well for me but I was in a very black place indeed when I was diagnosed - OC seems to have a death sentence written all over it but all the women contributing to Ovacome are proof positive that there is light at the end of the tunnel. I send you hugs and I wish you good luck.

Wow Jasmine,
you're amazing, your positive attitude is fantastic! I echo the ladies above, honestly having the staples removed is nothing compared to what you've already been through. My tumours were borderline too so I didn't need chemo etc. Do they think your tumours were oestrogen receptive?
Sending you hugs
love
