Hi I'm 2 weeks post op from laparoscopy removal of both ovaries. Is anyone else in the care sector had this operation and how long before you were ready to return to work afterwards?

Working in care sector how long after bilateral oopherectomy did you return to work?
I’m having a cut and I’m planning at least three months off ... I’m a teacher x
I'm in the health care field and would be on my feet a good bit. I had one ovary and tube removed by laparoscopy. I went back after two weeks to work but looking back on it I should really have taken another week at least off. I was exhausted the first two weeks back. I found I felt I was ok but only when I returned to my usual busy routine I was exhausted. Once you're back you're back 100% so be kind to yourself and take as much time as you need. Take care and good luck.
Thanks so much for replying had both ovaries and tubes removed and endo removed also. Struck down with a virus just now which isn't helping still in quite a bit of pain. Obviously with Christmas approaching work are keen to know when I'll be returning. Have a phone consult with gp on the 14th so will seek their advice.
Honestly? Given the proximity to Christmas etc and unless sick pay is a concern, why not ask to be signed off until the new year, then you can relax. Hope you are recovering well.
Hi, I had a prophylactic BSO through keyhole and the consultant said I'd be able to go back to work after two weeks but I took four off. I was a community midwife doing homebirths etc and I felt I needed to look after myself before I could look after others. I felt OK really after three weeks but there is a psychological adjustment too so I thought I'd give myself some TLC. Some people had wildly varying time off after gall bladder ops so I decided to just do what was right for me and I'm glad I did.
