I take both...SD keeps stools soft and movicol encourages things to move along. I’m also taking the anti-nausea drug metaclopramide which is a ‘pro-kinetic’ and stimulates food through the digestive system. Hoping the combined effect stops another obstruction happening.
Speak to your team about it, and I’m sure they can help you come up with a plan to get things working properly with you. It will almost certainly take some tweaking to work out the right dose for you.
WhenI started Carbo/Caelyx I had hideous constipation which meant a couple of unscheduled hospital visits. I’ve now got it under control by taking Sodium Docusate and Movicol in varying quantities during the four week cycle. Just before and for a week after chemo I take two lots of 2 sodium Docusate and three sachets of Movicol. As the time goes on I reduce the dosages until I’m just taking 2 sodium docusate a day. This is recommended by my oncologist. I think they do different things so are ok together.
