I had a follow up with my oncologist after my surgery and three rounds of chemotherapy. Since my tumor tested estrogen positive she put me on an estrogen blocking medication that is usually given to breast cancer patients. Although it’s not standard procedure for ovarian cancer let’s hope it helps!

I’m now trying to regain my strength. I have a lot of problems with gas and an acid stomach. I’m hoping that goes away!

Good luck with it, Ravenmuse. Quite a few ladies on here have had hormone blockers, so there must be some usefulness to them. Be kind to yourself whilst rebuilding your strength- don’t try to do too much!

Hi Ravenmuse, I hope the blocker works for you, I know other people have used this line of treatment to good effect.

The fatigue is quite harsh, your strength will slowly come back but it does take quite a while. Be gentle with yourself and take little steps, you’ll get there. Hugs ❤️Xx Jane

Hi Ravenmuse. I'm on hormone blockers as well (Letrozole). There are some trial results indicating benefits for ovarian cancer patients, especially those who suffer from low grade OC, as those tumours are often hormone sensitive. Wish you success with it.

I am also on hormone blockers - Letrazole at present. I think there are 4 different tablets you can have. I also tried Zoladex injections, which my GP told me is given for prostate cancer more often than ovarian, but that didn't work for me. Di

Hi there

I’m on the hormone blocker Anastrozole ( Arimidex) since completeting Breast cancer treatment in Apr. I was hoping that it also helps me with my PPC but I think the OC hormone blocker is Letrozole. Which one are you on ?

I’m taking Anastrozole too. They said it wasn’t standard procedure for ovarian cancer, but they recommended it.

Thanks for your reply which really put my mind at rest. I had spoken to my Oncology nurse on Monday to ask her to check with the Oncologist if I could switch to Letrozole as I hadn’t come across anyone here taking Anastrozole . On the strength of your reply I asked her to hold that request for the moment ! Let’s hope it works for those of us taking them. Thanks again

It was a doctor at Dana Farber in Boston who suggested Arimidex for me. Reading about it, it seems to have few side effects. So far, I haven’t had any problems with it, but I haven’t been on it long. I talked to a nurse at my oncology clinic and she said they have had some success with it with other patients!
