Just a lil update...so 3rd session of Caelyx and made me extremely ill. Been suffering 8 days now with vomitting diorreah and severe fatigue . Stomach pains have been like red hot poker's too...Marsden and GP think could be side effects or viral gastroentoritus, given Imodium and buscopan. Finally a lil less pain today but still not good...have danger of small bowel blockages so glad it's still working there, anybody else had simalar probs at all....my tummy sounds like a toilet cistern tank ever since on low residue diet too.....take care lovelies xxx

I haven’t had caelyx yet, but I’m also supposed to be on a low residue diet because of the risk of a small bowel obstruction, and I hate it! It’s totally against the wholesome veg, nut, pulse rich diet I had been creating for myself. Now it’s cornflakes, white bread and really small portions of fruit and veg...depressing! I suffer with excruciating stomach cramps which come and go, so I know I need to be careful. Bleugh!
So sorry that you are suffering with Caelyx. I don’t have experience with it, but I know it works very well for some of us, and I am praying that it really gives you great results. Sending hugs and best wishes!
Hi Angie , I have had two lots of Caelyx so far , definitely feel more nauseous with this regime and the second one worse than the first . Just eating my normal food at the moment cos no one has told me differently although my appetite has diminished , will report on what the third lot does to me , keep smiling Julia xxx
Oh good luck hun! Yea i never used to even take anti sickness tabs but living on them now. Lets gope it does something to the beast and makes it all worth it xx
Hi Angie, just on my 4th cycle of Carboplatin/Caelyx 2 more to go, got results of recent scan and cancer has shrunk heaps plus cancer marker down from 3000 to 300, so after final chemo session, check up 3 months after, as previously carbo/taxol didnt work for me! So my advice is to persevere!xxxDawn!🌺🌺🌺
Angie, I have had 4 treatments with carbo/caelyx (aka lipsomal doxorubicin in US) and not had stomach problems. I do have a rash all over my torso of pinkish bumps some of which get fluid in them and itch terribly. I also have a wide spread brownish fungus on torso and armpits. My skin has turned almost olive green color in my armpits, elbows and knees and orange on my torso. I am now extremely sun sensitive and have devleoped brown blotches and splotches on any area that has been exposed to sunlight. I have low energy and low stamina. BUT!!! This chemo combination is working for me and my CA125 has dropped in to a low normal range. Other than massive GAS--burping and farting- I feel fairly well. Good luck with your treatment and I hope you find the root cause of your gastric pains.
Oh, also meant to say I do have a few brown spots on some of my fingernails, I asked the Onc and he shrugged his shoulders and said just cover it up, so I just pop nail polish on, may as well keep glam!xxx😀💗😀🌺🌺
I had Caelyx, though it was discontinued after 3 infusions as the beast was continuing to grow. But I had no stomach problems while having it. I hope you soon feel better. Di
Think I'm always gonna get the tummy probs they warned me will do. Danger of bowel obstruction screws with that but I'm so sorry to hear it didn't work with u ...what's next? Theu ummed n arred whether to give me 3rd but reckoned it lowered marker slightly so try it x
Hi Angie are you on lansoprozole for your stomach, it sounds like you are having a really rough time on Caelyx I didn't have that yet, what is the low residue diet, I have cut out dairy and changed to a vegan brand KOKO and I am juicing two meals a day and 2 snacks and I have dinner, its lots of fresh green food, kale, spinach, celary, cucumber, green apples and keeps the bowel active and working fine without laxatives I am on avastin I went to a nutritional therapist and she advised of the foods to avoid and told me to take organic wheatgrass too as its so nourishing and fortified the doctors were useless in my hospital when I complained of bloating they didn't care my concerns was it ascites or would I get another plural effusion and since I started this diet I feel much better.
Hiya yea for tummy so that bowel obs is under control with the steroids....just tummy protection. The low residue diet is basically to not retain any fibre in my body to keep it filing through so constant pooping! It's bland colourless and full of crap. Everything white no veg no fruit no nuts seeds salad etc.....juice....only cake custard rice pasta cream trifle...junk really ....so bizarre....has worked at keeping bowels open but very boring can't even have baked beans xx
I had to change my diet after my stoma op in 2015. I still forget. Or risk a veg blow out with Sunday roast and regret it for 3 days!
There are some things that are good and won’t interfere. Blue label milk with a quality choc powder and banana or strawberry makes a great protein shake.
Thank you, we have to snatch the good moments when we can. I hope you are feeling a bit better since your last post. I have been having bowel trouble off and on too, and leaky gut syndrome. I think Caelyx is pretty harsh on the stomach.
Hi Angie, I’ve just had my second Caelyx & carboplatin and having tummy problems like you.. the pains and noises exactly as you describe.. did you find anything to work for you? My anti sickness meds are ondasetron which worked well when I had Carbo/taxol the last twice, but hasn’t been as effective this time. Any info very gratefully received as I can’t do much longer feeling this rubbish ☹️
HI Angie, Sorry love you are having such a hard time with caelyx, have you had a resent 125?, As I've said I've had quite a bit of Calyx not always easy but did get good results ...Take care my friend Lorraine xx💙💙
Sadly it tripled in 3 weeks! I don't reckon mines cancer it's an extra terrestrial type creature just eating me from inside! How can tumor marker triple in such a short time lol....hope in are feeling good lovely lady xx
