Today I had my first 3 month check up, my ca 125 has risen from 36 to 96. The appointment today was with gynae not oncology so not sure what, if anything, this means for me. He said they would discuss in the next MDM meeting and then be in touch.
Do any of you ladies have any thoughts on what’s likely to happen next? I finished chemo in December and am just beginning to feel back to normal and am back working full time
I haven’t any obvious symptom of recurrence
Thank you x.

Hi Bear in mind it could be anything causing the rise. If you are concerned I would ring your CNS and have a word? When is the next MDM meeting? Hopefully it will turn out to be nothing xx
There are lots of things that can cause your CA125 to rise other than the cancer but speak with your oncologists team to get further information. I hope it’s nothing serious for you. Good luck ❤️Xx Jane
Hi...this happened to me in January..they did a scan and saw 3 enlarged lymph nodes...but I feel well and wanted to watch and wait...another scan due in April and Onc meeting to discuss.
Like you I am keen to avoid treatment until it’s necessary. I am guessing you don’t know if the ca125 is up due to cancer or other causes? Did you get Avastin?
I am using the time I have gained to find out more about possible treatments, trials etc. Good luck!!
Thank you, you’re correct, I don’t know the cause of the rise but you automatically think it’s a recurrence. I’ve not had Avastin. I have Brca test results due any day now so i suppose that will determine future treatments x
Hi. I was told that while the CA is an indication it is by no means a definitive. My CA counts vary all the time but has not meant progression of the disease. While you DEFINITELY need to investigate don’t get too worked up until all results are in. Hope this helps!
It would be really hard for anyone to second guess what your adictirs will discuss or decide on. I know it’s hard but you just need to wait and see what they say. You could always phone your CNS abd tell her you are worried and whether she can give advise.
Anything can cause a rise--but for your peace of mind, try to push an appt sooner rather than later if you have any say in the matter. Your mental state is important too. Not necessarily "bad" so try not to let your mind wander there too much. Good luck! ox
It's true, that you must wait and see what your team thinks. They usually meet once a week, so you should hear soon.
I predict that they will want to do a CT scan, just in case.
I don't know about you , but I felt totally normal, running my business, running around town, enjoying my busy life - until one afternoon I didn't feel so well.
A week later, they discovered that I was riddled with tumours. They must have been growing for at least the last several months, and I did not feel a thing. So, they don't call it "the silent killer" for no reason.
Let them investigate any serious fluctuations and be prepared for anything.
It's a drag, if it is a recurrence, but we can conquer it, if we can catch it in time.
