Had appointment with surgeon yesterday pet scan showed uptake in diaphragm and top of liver so going in on Monday for laparoscopic surgery to see what’s going on.

If it’s not cancer he will operate on vaginal vault but said I need to way the benefit of this surgery as it is major surgery and lapratommy again and then chemo.

If he sees what the pet scan is showing I will only have chemo and no surgery, he said trials are going on currently to see if 2nd surgery is beneficial for overall survival, however I also need to take into consideration quality of life.

At least I have a partial treatment plan and will hopefully get to know more on Monday once he’s had a look.

Have a read about desktop 3 which is the trial he refers to and the one I shadowed when I had my surgery in 2015. Although it’s on going there are several papers through with results from some of the experimental groups. The overall data so far suggests that secondary surgery does extend life expectancy

Well, at least you have s plan now and it sounds like your doc is on top if it.

I am always suspicious of the "quality of life" card being played.

It is all subjective, but I would take another year of brutal Chemo for a chance to stop the spread of the beast, plus, who knows what new trials might be on offer or even a chance of more curative treatment in future?

So, take it as it comes, but choose the best battle plan. Don't surrender!

Best wishes,

Laura

Thank you for all your good luck messages, I am praying he will let me have surgery then chemo.

But I will have anything they throw at me to stop this spreading any further, I also hope I am feeling less bloated and still able to fly to Iceland on Saturday with my granddaughter.
