First scan result on Patriot Trial

Update on my clinical trial. I have stage 3c clear cell ovarian cancer and am on the phase one Patriot trial- the drug AZD 6738. I have had 2 cycles of treatment and my first scan has shown stable disease with a small amount of reduction. Starting on the 3rd cycle today. Not sure what all this means but hopefully it means the drug is working.

Sounds positive to me. Stable with reduction is the way to go. Hope the next cycles keep up the momentum. I’ve just finished the first cycle of my trial, Ariel4, but will not know how it’s going till my scan results. Scan on 5th April so a while to wait. Keep the faith and hope you are ok.

Is it quite a manageable drug? I’m going to talk trials today at oncology and am trying to find what’s out there

Do you have much residual disease to measure?

Hi Lily-Anne, I realise that actual trial of Pembrolizumab on clear cell doesn't start until later this year (hopefully recruiting mid summer to autumn) but Dr Rebecca Kristeleit at UCHL who is the leader, talked to Ovacome Members Day last Saturday. If my understanding is correct, your oncologist can contact her and check out if Pembrolizumab could be helpful for your detail? I think it is what is called 'compassionate use'...i.e. outside the reporting of the trial but using the same protocols?

I hope I'm not horribly wrong but anything is worth exploring.

Warm wishes for as good a day as possible; keeping taking care. Lesley

Hi LA-yes it is manageable. I take 4 pills twice a day for 2 weeks and then have 2 weeks off and that is one cycle. I am just starting on my 3rd cycle. Side effects have been low magnesium and dehydration though the dehydration is almost certainly due to the stoma. My red blood count is a bit borderline now but white blood count ok so far. I have had a bit of retching - not sure of the reason for this. It is nowhere near as unpleasant as chemo but still a bit challenging. Definately worth looking into.

I have some " targeted" measureable disease on liver and in abdomen and some lymph nodes according to my scan result and lots of other bits mentioned but not measured. They biopsied a nodule just under the skin but scan says these nodules have disppeared now.

Yes a good start and wishing further reduction in future scans . Hope it continues to be manageable and you get good results
