So, went to my oncologist for check up and ct scan results. Seems like it's back. Currently surrounding my liver, stomach, spleen. She has scheduled a pet scan too for 2 weeks from now but, starting chemo on wednesday. Doxil and Cabo cocktail. 6 does, once every 4 weeks. Anyone used doxil?

Sorry to hear your news. What a shock for you.

Have they suggested surgery first?

By far your best option for success.

Love Nicky

No, don't need surgery or biopsy. These tumors have not invaded my organs but are in the fluid surrounding them. This is the joy of ppc.

Hi. Well Doxil is another name for caelyx of which i have had two lots combined with carboplatin. It was ok the first time, harder the second but up until June last year I was having chemo every year so I expect there was a bit of an overload in general. Not as bad as Taxol which I had weekly for six months at the beginning of this journey. Watch rubbish TV and drink stacks of water. Good luck! Marie

Thank you riverside. I didn't know it was the same drug. Are the side effects worse than the taxol with carbo?

I had caelyx (doxil). Unfortunately it didn't work for me, but I didn't find it too difficult. I had it on its own though, not with carbo

Had my 3 month appointment on Tuesday, and they are happy for me to continue for another 3 months. Little in the way of side effects. I go back in April to see if I can continue any longer or need to try another chemo. I hope your chemo works for you. Di

Hi, I have had Caelyx also called Doxil as second line treatment, I found the side effect hard but managed the 6 treatments with some success ,I have now just finished 8 rounds of Carbo/ Caelyx as 5th line of treatment, with very little side effects and good results my 125 was 1300 and finished at 56, my last scan showed I'm stable , stable is good,

My oncologist was about to put me on Caelyx as maintenance Caelyx has been a good chemo for me and you know we are all so different when it comes to treatments.

The reason I'm not going on Caelyx as maintenance I've been offered a trial for a new drug for recurring ovarian cancer.

I'm going to a meeting on Tuesday to make up my mined if I will or not.

If you type in Caelyx/Carbo in the Search My Ovacome at the right hand top of the site ,then enter you will find earlier post from our lovely ladies about Caelyx and tips on how to handle side effects, they can be managed.

I hope this treatment give you good results take care Lorraine xx💙

Just got letter off my oncologist and just having carboplatin weekly. I thought it would be every 3weeks. Xx

I wonder why they omitted the 2nd drug? Maybe too toxic? Last line of treatment I had carbo/taxol for 2 consecutive days and then the cisplatin on the third day. Every other week I had that regimen for like 17 rounds. Saying it was tough is an understatement. But it had me in remission for 1 1/2 years... good luck and keep posting.

I have just had my 3rd cycle of caelyx alone. My scan after 2 nd dose shows my peritoneal cancer has remained stable. Have peritoneal now after oc. Side effects are bearable. My hair, eyebrows and eyelashes have all grown back at tremendous rate since November. X
