Hairless scalp care

I have the lovely chemo baldness and coupled with a round steroid face can't decide whether I look like Uncle Fester or Matt Lucas. ๐Ÿ˜‰ I notice though that the scalp is getting dry. Does anyone have any suggestions for creams or special tricks to use so I don't get cradle cap!

Me too, though my hair is hanging on by a thread,,or two! I look at my face in the morning and don't recognise myself. I have a green cream concealer I now use - which I got as part of the Look Good Feel Better collection of goodies which damps down the rosy cheeks...

After 16 weekly treatments of taxol my whole BODY is dry, and my skin thin, so slathering on the bio oil and whatever else I can find in the cupboard.

The best product for my scalp/ hair though has been Josh Wood hair treatment oil - I got this little gem in my M and S Xmas calendar last year and I've just run out ๐Ÿ˜Š, apparently you can get at M and S or I just googled ยฃ16.99 on Amazon

It has kept my scalp and hair beautifully soft and calm of any problems so recommend 100%.

BTW I found out this week from a check up at the opticians that I also have extremely dry eyes which you don't think about in the general moisture sucking effects of chemo.

BLephara eye lids wipes and gel drops ( visco tears) has solved that one!

Hello Janet, I had blepheritis when my eyelashes grew back first time round and I found it was much cheaper to buy the 100 ml bottle of Blephasol and use with cotton wool pads as the wipes work out quite expensive.

Although almost all my hair has gone, my skin, apart from some rough redness on my knuckles is looking good. This is because itโ€™s having lots of care. I do wear makeup, but my cleansing routine is pretty much soap and water. Except when Iโ€™m on chemo, Iโ€™m there lavishing cleansers, tonics, lotions and potions and my bank balance everywhere. I remember Debs used to recommend products from Neals Yard and Iโ€™d run out and buy them, they smelt so good. Alas, I soon lapsed into my old ways but here I am again. Not sure where Iโ€™m supposed to keep all these bottles and things.

I think Iโ€™ll try this Josh Wood stuff as my scalp feels a bit tight. I think itโ€™s becsuse Iโ€™ve got about a one-eighth of an inch of hair which I didnโ€™t retain last time.

Not long for you now and youโ€™ll be done! I go for bloods tomorrow and chemo Tuesday.

Take care!

Yes I will get the bottle next.... I have about 1/2 dozen eyelashes left, they sneakily fall out, but not too worried as I know they will grow back like the hair. It's just the weird look in between ๐Ÿ˜ณ.

Will be passing Superdrug today en route to Xmas lunch out with a good bunch of retiree work friends so hoping to buy their own hair therapy oil with argon at ยฃ3.99 which has good reviews, or OGX moroccan argon oil if it's in stock...

I think oils over creams are better and more absorbent and certainly not greasy these days.

Have woken with a sore throat this morning ( gargling with dissolvable aspirin helps) but temp is 36.4. I never go high always low on temperature but I will come into the day soon with my warm lemon ginger drink...

Yes onc appointment tomorrow ( writing my list of q's as usual) , number 16 .... finish on the 20 th.... ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿป

My mum bought me a lovely scalp spray from Jennifer Young. I spritzed it on after a shower. I also used a shower puff to exfoliate my scalp (then spritzed the scalp spray on afterwards). My bonce was lovely ๐Ÿ˜‚

Hi Betty (?)

I'm happy to say I think I see the beginning of some hair growth now. About time. I did have terrible eczema after one dose of taxotere and just used Calendula cream night and day and it cleared up nicely and left my scalp lovely and soft but without the greasiness. I've always used it for minor wounds or on my son's eczema when he was little. If you want to go down that route then watch out for the percentage of calendula per product. Can vary enormously. I make my own calendula oil as I grow the plants in the garden. A lot cheaper and a higher percentage of the good stuff. Occasionally I swipe a dose of hubby's Head & Shoulders Hair Thickener. He laughs as I've had no hair before the little stubs of hair poked through. It's nice and feels refreshing and soft. All sorts of products out there. It's finding the best one for you without having to take out a mortgage to get it.

Dry skin elsewhere is a nightmare but I've always been the same. That's why I wrinkle so much I think. Skin hasn't got much collagen in it. There's no Mediterranean in me apparently.

Hey PABK,

I used a scalp cream that was designed mainly for babies cradle CAP but I found it fab and used it all the time. It's from an Aussie company called Moogoo and has a lot of natural ingredients! See link below with more info! I have no affiliation to the company I found their products by researching myself for natural products! Best of luck!

I look like Matt Lucas now my hair is gone xx my sister bought me some of the sanctuary hand cream, body lotion and shower gel which is lovely x

I do use E45 cream as well which is good on the scalp, though I do find it a weird sensation, not being used to having to put cream on my head before.

After my third chemo last Monday Iโ€™ve noticed a big difference in the dryness of my skin. I have always suffered with dry skin but nowhere near as bad as this x my legs and soles of my feet are the worst x so I keep slapping on the moisturisers x

I hope you find a cream that works for you ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜

I found good old coconut oil rubbed in overnight was good, just had to pop a extra pillowcase on to protect the pillow though

My hairdresser said to put in my scalp the same creams I use on my face....Lately it's been squalane oil at night on both scalp and face. Very pure and moisturizing. It's supposed to be "skin identical" so won't clog pores. No scent....works for me.

I use Moroccan oil , as advised by my lovely hairdresser - she keeps my baldy bonce looking neat !! A little drop goes a long way and keeps your skin feeling soft. Hope this helps , good luck xx

Ladies you are wonderful. Thank you so much for the helpful hints and products that you recommend. Just in time for the Christmas list too. I had forgotten about Tea tree oil, that was a good reminder - magic stuff. Now I shall have a shiny soft bonce like you guys. A bit worried tonight that if the hat falls off people will think the super moon has risen. ๐Ÿ˜‚
