I have toothache and have a dental appointment this Wednesday. I am on Olaparib. Is it ok to have my tooth filled or taken out? Anyone know? Thanks, Emma

Dental care on Olaparib?
My oncologist said I should inform the dentist of my immunocompromised status and ask for a blood test 24 hrs before the procedure. Dentist completely ignored this but did offer extra disinfectant ( mouthwash) before starting. Everything was fine.
As long as you don’t have episodes of low bloods they seem to be more relaxed about treatment these days xx
I had a tooth pulled and implants put in. My oncologist was fine with it. I did have to stop my blood thinner for the surgical part.
Hi, I’ve had a filling and unfortunately 2 extractions whilst on Olaparib, no probs. Good luck x
I had a crown fitted last year whilst on Olaparib. No problems. The tooth could have been filled but the dentist thought it best to puta crown on. I didn't even think to ask Oncology.
Thank you, all you lovely ladies, for your encouraging comments straight from the horse's (laidies') mouth! emma xx
Hi! I had a few fillings and a crown put on while on Olaparib without an issue but chose to postpone an implant.
Hi.
I had 3 teeth extracted due to effects of chemo on my gums. The dentist had to ring through to the hospital for the blood results . He couldn’t get hold of them and I had to go away and cone back the following week but the oncologist insisted on new bloods before the dental appointment . Good luck.
