hair care with olaparib

has anyone tried hair colouring or smoothening when on olaparib. My grays have become prominent in the last year and my hairs are growing back curly (never had curls before in my life) after the chemo. It is not super important to me to do the colouring or smoothening, but if there is no danger at all, maybe I can try for a special occasion!

I’ve been on it 9.5 years and never heard of any issues regarding hair treatments x

hi. Like you my hair has come back curlier and frizzier. I have been on Olaparib for 2 years and have had no issues with dyeing my hair. I’ve stopped the highlights only because they extenuate the frizz!!! You could try the vegetable based dyes depending on what colour you want? They are good for temporary colour if you just want to colour your hair for special occasions. I hope this helps x

thank you. I lost my hair after the first chemo round itself so didn't have much to do then. Now it's almost a year after but I will refrain from it for now

You can do highlights but not touch roots per my hairdresser

not sure about doing it on maintenance drugs but I did color my hair right after my last chemo. Because it is like a newborns hair it didn’t take the color so greatly..wanted blond but it looked orangey so I washed it everyday, now it looks natural after a few weeks. Mine is curly too but I like it..think it will look better when it gets longer. Good luck and hope you are going to a happy event..

my hair grew back really curly. I didn’t have to color it but embraced the curls! Use a good shampoo and conditioner. Then use another conditioner that you leave in. It’s so easy. I didn’t use a hairdryer ever! Don’t wash it but once every 5-7 days. Get it shaped. Just have fun!

Thank you. I am leaning towards leaving it natural as well. There are natural mehndi based dyes available here but they could dry the hair out even further. So time to embrace the curls while I am used to the frizzies esp in the humidity where I live 😃

The right product really diminished my frizzies!
