Carbo causing surgical incision pain.

Hey everyone, I hope you are doing well.

A brief rundown on my mom... she received 4 cycles of dose-dense therapy neo-adjuvant, interval debulking, and is now she started her second cycle (out of 3) adjuvant chemo. She tolerated chemo prior to surgery quite well, only dealing with minor constipation that medication clears up.

Adjuvant chemo - On Day 1 of the first cycle (Taxol and Carbo), she experienced burning pain underneath her surgical incision site along with in the upper-right quadrant - where her spleen was taken out. Team said it was normal - and suggested ibuprofen and lidocaine patches, which has helped somewhat. On Days 7 and 15 (Taxol), she experienced no side-effects. She started Day 1 (Carbo + Taxol)today and is having the burning pain once again. Doctors have reassured us that this is not uncommon after surgery - however, we are still worried.

Has anyone received neo-adjuvant chemo therapy and noticed side-effect changes (from carbo) after debulking surgery?

Thanks in advance,

Kris x

Kris I had this when started back on chemo post surgery, I told my onc and she said the nerves of the scar tissue was still healing and both the Taxol and Carbo would be the course of the problem.

I had the same pain after each carbo/taxyl although it became less with each treatment-6 x 3-weekly treatments after surgery. I also had my spleen removed.

Yes I did. Found the chemo much harder post surgery, took a number of months I'm sorry to say. But keep mentioning it xxx

As you can see. This is normal. I got this pain in similar place and I had my spleen removed. It continued for up to six months first following treatment and also if I did too much.

My scar ached during chemo and Tummy muscles contracted. You have to also remember your Mums bowel was disturbed during surgery and also with every thing gone it has room to expand.
