Granulosa tumour on ct scan
Hi Amanda,
I think we have spoken on Facebook. There is a thread on here about granulosa tumours
healthunlocked.com/ovacome/...
I believe they are incedibly rare and usually very treatable with surgery. I can't comment on their visability on a CT scan but when I was going through diagnosis I did not have obvious tumours but the CT scan did pick up on speckling across my omentum and my ovaries looked bulky so CT scans and radiographers are pretty good at picking up abnormalities.
I seem to remember that you have an appointment for an MRI soon to look at some abnormal cysts and then have a follow up appointment with your gynaecologist. You will have opportunity then to raise your concerns and maybe if you have a list of symptoms that will help you focus.
However Drs do not just diagnose off symptoms but also blood tests, scans and sometimes biopsies. Often the definitive diagnosis for many of us comes after surgery.
Your symptoms may seem to fit a granulosa a tumour but other condtions may also cause similar symptoms e.g. PCOS. I know you are really worried but ovacome run a nurse led helpline and may be able to offer you some reassurance.
Tumours show up on scans, but scans don't usually tell what type of tumour. Di
Hi Amanda,
from my personal experience, a scan can indicate a tumour but not what type, a granulosar cell tumour is normally diagnosed by 2 blood tests, which are Inhibin and Estrodial which tend to be very good indicators. Hope this is helpful.
