CT Scan update

Hi lovely ladies, just to let you know that I've had my CT scan results and it shows no sign of any cancer. Been clear now since February 2014. It does show gallstones though so if anyone has any advice on that I'd be glad to hear it.

Hope all is going well with everyone, Zena xx

What fantastic news!! I am soooooo pleased for you. Time to celebrate. My sister had gallstones and she was given some icky liquid that dissolved them and she passed them naturally. I think treatment depends where the stones are, and what size? Good Luck xx

Thanks Lyn xx

That is such great news, Zena!

You have been clear for over 5 years now and I just hope my body follows your example.

Meanwhile, gallstones can be composed of different substances and it would be good to know what kind yours are.

If you have no symptoms, you don’t need to do anything, but if you are having painful attacks from the gallstones, you can get them treated or have your gall bladder removed.

I have one very large gall stone that I have had for 50 years as a result of a blood disease. It is a pigment gallstone.

Mine is too large to get caught in a bike duct so it has caused me no trouble.

Hope yours are trouble free also.

Hugs,

Laura

Thanks Laura,

I've no idea about my gallstones the letter just said they were not causing my pain as they're on the opposite side. They're not causing me any problem but I don't want them. Perhaps I eat too much yogurt. It's certainly not down to fatty food. xx

Brilliant news, well done xx

So happy for you Zena--I know they don't use the 5 year mark anymore for OC but hey, I LOVE that you hit the 5 year mark and continue with NED!!! Hope you are celebrating this weekend and on! ENJOY!!!! oxox Judy

Do they not use 5 year mark? Xx

Reply

Its definitely a milestone but for some reason with OC, I have read its longer before they can say you're "cured". For you and me, I say you hit the mark!!! ox

Thanks Judy, I think I've been celebrating for years and I intend to carry on doing so. lol. xx

Thank you. I'm already celebrating lol xxx

I've had a gallstone show up on scans for OC since 2011. I would be completely unaware that it was there if they hadn't told me.

Glad you're still clear Zena. Xx

Reply

Thank you. I would be unaware too. I'm not 100% that they're right. They told me I had a secondary cancer in my spine after one scan and then changed their minds. xx

Lovely news Zena. 🎈Have a fabulous weekend. Don’t worry about the gallstones if you’re not having any pain or nausea. Lots of people may well have them but just don’t know. Congratulations 👏🏼 Cheryl x

Reply

Thanks Cheryl. I'm not worried really just wondered if there's anything I could do in the way of eating etc. to get rid of them. Then again I wouldn't know if I had got rid of them because I didn't know I had them. lol xxx

Such great news to hear.

I also have gall stones and they were present at my diagnosis. When they operated they took a look and said they were no problem so left them in situ. I have experienced no pain at all from them. I guess many people develop gall stones through their their life time and are totally unaware!

Reply

Thank you. I agree, I think we all have lots of things that we don't know about and sometimes that's for the best. xxx

Congratulations on your results and all the best for your continued survivorship. The gall stones will be a doddle!

Thanks Mary. You're right, there's worse things that can happen. xx

Hi Zena

Great News! One of my CT scans showed a calcified gallstone but never caused any problems or ever mentioned again.

CT scan later today so more apprehension and waiting.

Walking our rescue dog and seeing grandchildren keeps me going.

Best wishes for a very long remission.

Janet

Reply

Thanks Janet and good luck with the scan. You sound like me with the rescue dog and grandchildren. They certainly keep us busy. xx

Reply

Great news. Don’t know about gallstones but hope they get them sorted quickly.

Reply

Thanks Neona, I don't think they're overly worried about the gallstones as they haven't suggested anything to do about them. I'll just see how it goes. xxx

Hi Zena , just seen your post . Think we are chemo twins! . I too was diagnosed 6 years ago this month , 3c, had weekly icon 8 chemo using a cold cap and unexpectedly tested positive for BRCA 2 - from my father , with no known family history of breast or ovarian cancer ( but didnt know much about his family ) We have both been so lucky to have had such a good response to chemo - long may the NED remain for us both ! Carry on living life to the full 😊Zena , best wishes , Hilary xx

Reply

Thanks Hilary, we certainly are twins. Our only difference is that I was diagnosed in July but otherwise it's like reading my own story. Long may it remain that we can keep swapping our stories of good news. xxx
