Staph infection

I have come to realize that our issues will never end. Positivity can only get you so far on this merry-go-round of OC, ppc. I finally was able to look ahead and feel better about myself by getting a repair to my breast reconstruction after 10 years. It was great at first. I felt and looked normal. What is normal to us? Good day, bad day, scared of test results day. I could go on but won't. I developed a staph infection with a 103 fever which landed me in the hospital for 3 days. I fell at home as I was so dizzy and hit my head, lip with teeth marks, etc. So I won a 3 day, 2 night stay at my favorite hospital! Woot!woot! I feel so frustrated now, unable to look ahead with positive energy. The blood cultures taken indicated staph was from my implant. Sent home with more antibiotics with hope staph would resolve itself and the redness around my breast would go away. The pain associated with this is tremendous as my pain meds can barely keep up. I would just like to take out the implant and call it a day. Not a good day, not a bad day, just accept my limits day. Should I keep it in till I finish the antibiotics or concede now?

Hey there Rel - same thing happened to me when I had a port put in - I ended up in the hospital for two weeks they did not think I was going to make it but I did and you will too! If it were me I would seriously question why they have not removed your port - mine was immediately removed! Have you asked them?

Let me know how you do and personally screw the ports I will never get another one!

Another option would be a PIC LINE if you have a health care nurse come 1x a week to flush it out with Saline!

Take care!

I think you got confused with a port and a breast reconstruction. Staph wasn't from Port but from the implant. Either way, I've had the implant removed and today the Dr told me the staph infection is back. I'm not healing properly due to the radiated skin and it keeps draining. Thank for your reply. I have no problem with my port and thank god I still have it as I have no veins.
