I am finally in a position to go abroad after 18 since my diagnosis. I’m halfway through my chemo after a reoccurrence. Can anyone recommend a good insurance company?

I have also got insurance with All Clear. It was expensive, but the first one on the list I was given from Focus (the hospital cancer charity). All Clear are also Which recommended. allcleartravel.co.uk

My friend got a very good deal with World First Travel, but because I want to travel very soon (after getting an all clear scan) there wasn't enough time, as they wanted to pass me on to a medical expert and that was going to take 5-10 days.

My friend was able to do it all on line so it is worth a shot, I think it depends what answers you give, i.e. what your situation is. (I had a pulmonary embolism just before my all clear, plus I have a stoma now.)

moneyhelper.org.uk have a travel insurance directory, you can put in your medical parameters and they then list the companies they think will cover you.

They point out that a lot of the companies use the same medical screening companies (mostly Verisk or Protectif) so if you have been turned down by one company it might not be worth trying another company using the same medical screener.

Some do have their own screening. All Clear have their own and World First use Protectif.

I'm happy to list the other companies I got from Focus, if you want more companies to look at. I did find the Money Helper list and advice very helpful.

I'd echo what has been said here. It's the screening company that's the important factor in getting a policy. I also went via a website which listed the screening companies (sorry, now can't remember the name). I ended up using Insurancewith.com, a company set up by a cancer survivor.

Happy hunting.

"Insurancewith" I used and they are great, I put down everything on the form, even my aneurysm that I had at 33 and they covered me 🥳 got a years cover with cruise cover for £248:00 . I know that sometimes they quote higher or won't cover but then ring them and talk it through xx good luck xx

I have found rhat most of the companies prepared to offer cover use All clear screening so the prices are similar. I have used SAGA, which provides a very high level of cover if that is important to you , which was reasonable with a special offer. The last two years I went with InsuranceWith who offer three levels of cover depending on what you need and are very good value on medical cover in particular. If you speak to an agent they will tailor the cover and this can bring the price down. As we have good house contents insurance which covers valuables and IT items away from home I can get that deducted from the quote for example. I suggest that if possible you ring insurers rather than use the online form,, unless there is a huge discount for applying online. Also get at least a couple of quotations before you decide as there can be huge price variations . As my cancer is deemed incurable and I have been treated almost continually since diagnosis over three years ago it is hard to find any cover at all which is affordable but InsuranceWith is a good place to startBest wishes for a great holiday.

moneyhelper.org.uk is recommended on the Ovacome charity on their travel insurance webinar (on YouTube) with an industry expert. Worth watching.

Hi, I’m just back from a week in Sicily. Most companies wouldn’t offer cover, despite being currently NED, and 4 months post chemo. I was quoted £400 single trip with Staysure, and ended up paying £330 with Allclear.

I’m on a Scottish OC Facebook page. The women there all swear by a company called Holidaysafe. It has covered many of them for approx £50 single trip. They would not offer me cover, because I’d had an infection (a minor UTI) within the last 6 months. The cancer was less of an issue for them 🤷🏻‍♀️

Hope you find something 🤞🏼
