HI ladies, wanted to reach out to you letting you know my ct was clear but there's an enlarged lymph node near my diaphragm. Apparently I had it before my reconstructive breast surgery and at the prior ct scan but they didn't tell me about it. This scan they said it got bigger, size of a finger nail. I have 3 options but I'm hoping you brilliant ladies can help me with. I don't see my oncologist till July 5. My ontological gynecologist gave me my choices today. 1 choice is to do nothing till next scan. 2nd choice is to start chemo again and 3rd choice is to start a PARP inhibitor drug. I'm leaning towards choice 3 but I don't like the effects of the PARP inhibitor. I am braca1 positive so this drug will help me I believe. It repairs the DNA mutation and thereby stopping mutated cell growth. Can anyone give me some feedback with this. My ca125 keeps rising too and I don't have any symptoms.

I feel if you tested positive for Braca go with Parp as it seems to have good results, But also ring Ovacome helpline or consult with your team or Oncologist as they are the main players with the experience in this. Wishing you the best and let us know how you are doing
I feel this is a good option for me. What bothers me is that it can make you resistant to platinum chemo treatments. What happens if it doesn't work and I can't fall back on conventional chemo?
Hi, do you know what parp they are offering. I am currently on a trial for Olaparib and the side effects are minimal. I work full time and have been on it since January 2014.
I'm not sure which PARP inhibitor they have in mind but I believe it will be what you are on. I feel better to know you're not affected by the side effects. Is it working for you?
Hi, yes, so far so good. Ive been on it for three and a half years. Minimal side effects, the worst being how it affects my bowel movements. It also lowers my blood pressure and I get dizzy from time to time but its perfectly manageable. Theres a whole list of side effects but I dont experience them, odd bout of nausea but thats soon resolved by taking domperidone but thats it really. Im NED with a CA125 of less than 3, in fact the dr said today its so low they cant actually get a reading. I certainly would recommend it. Also my dr has said he knows of women who are on it over 5 years on from an original trial. I hope you make the decision thats right for you xx Kathy xx
Thank you kathy... you made me feel better about the inhibitor. I will go on it. I just get so sick of this cancer, 10 years now from my first diagnosis. It's truly the gift that keeps on giving and I'd rather just return the gift. It will never end till the end. Sorry, just feeling sorry for myself. Gotta snap out of it....
Thanks again. ♡
I know what you mean, Im in my tenth year too and in a way im just waiting for the axe to fall again but all we can do is keep fighting . You're allowed to feel sorry for yourself, its hard being strong all the time. Big Hug xx Kathy xx
Hi, good news that the rest of your scan was clear. Can't help with the park inhibitors but as its specifically for those with Braca there's no harm in giving it a try. Other ladies with experience will give you better advice though. Ann xx
Yes there are some ladies on here who are doing well on the parps including Katmal so that is food to think on
