I promised you an update on my progress with carbo/caelyx............
I am currently half way through treatment carbo/caelyx for 1st recurrence, and today was my clinic appointment for my CT Scan results. I was very anxious, but it is good news, my pleural effusions have gone as has the ascites. I had two liver lesions showing on my last CT scan, one has gone the other shrunk from 12mm to 6mm. I also had a 3mm pleurally based nodule which remains unchanged so they suspect it is not cancer. No new sites of disease. Phew!! I have 3 cycles left and hope to go on a parb inhibitor for maintenance. Onward and upward xx
Hi Lyn. I was also on carbo/caelyx for 1st recurrence, along with avastin. I found caelyx to be a difficult drug to deal with but highly effective, in that I went straight into remission after my 6 treatments. Avastin has continued as maintenance. It's been 5 years now and the cancer hasn't yet got past my wonderful maintenance drug. I hope your parb works as well for you. Best wishes. Pauline.
Good news.I am on the same boat as you but have finished all 6 chemos, had scan last week and get the results next Tuesday. Naturally am quite nervous.
So good to hear Lyn. I am on the same regime so hoping for good results too. I have had 2 infusions so far and although the cancer markers have gone up I know this can be the case for this treatment. Looking forward to the next result. 😄
Saw the Oncologist today and the markers are down to 233 from 280 so on the decline. Once back in the normal range I can go back on Lynparza as BRCA2 positive. Good luck with your treatment too. xx🦋❣️
So pleased for you Lyn, couldn't have been much better news.
I'm at a similar stage to you. My first recurrence and going for my 3rd cycle next Monday October 28th. Like you I am very nervous about the treatment as my oncologist did say it may not work. I found the caelyx a little tougher than the carbo alone but as there was only a 7/8 months gap before the recurrence I am willing to put up with the extra difficulties in order to obtain a longer cancer free period. I had a 5.6cm and 2.6cm tumour and some cancer nodules across peritoneum. I am still having pain where the tumours are which worries me but maybe I'm expecting too much too soon. I will be having a CT scan in about 3 weeks so pray for a similar result to yours. Well done.
It does take a while for Carbo/Caelyx to kick in, but kick in it will, after treatment with chemo you then have parb inhibitors available as maintenance, also clinical trials which I am currently considering, I recurred in just over 6 months so am going for it big time with every thing available to kick this damn disease into submission! Good luck with your continued treatment. x
Great news Lyn, I am so pleased for you. I have my appointment Friday to get the results of my scan, however will not be as positive news as yours, as this is to look at timing of 3rd line treatment. My marker has gone up again, now 207, but more important is the fact I am pretty bloated and uncomfortable, so ascites is obviously back. All of my other bloods are fine, so be interesting to see what the scan shows, hopefully it will only be the same old nodules in the peritoneum, and pelvic wall. Fingers crossed. I have held out on treatment for some time since the marker started rising earlier this year, and it will now be a year since I finished my last treatment in November.
