3 and a half weeks later, 5 enemas, a nasal/gastric tube, being fed through a drip for 2 weeks, finally having bowel surgery and I am now about an hour away from going home. Just waiting for them to take the staples out and then I am out of here - I can't wait. Even when I had my major debulking surgery 2 years ago I was only in hospital for 10 days. Can't wait to get back to my family and Max the dog!!!
Finally going home!: 3 and a half weeks later,... - My Ovacome
Finally going home!
So pleased for you, at last, hope you will be back to full health in no time! Xx
Hi there just wanted to let you know you have my heartfelt sympathy - have had same (naso gastric tube, adhesions, 2nd laparotomy, long hospital stay etc) can empathise with what you have been through, it is truly not a good experience! Great that you are out of there and going home - I had never been so grateful to be in my own bed and to feel (relatively) well. Also on the plus side the hospital nutritionist advised a diet of white (easy to digest) and high fat (regaining calories) food. After half a wholesome vegetarian lifetime it was quite diverting to be directed towards white bread toast with butter and macaroni cheese! Sounds like you are a really positive and courageous person from your post, hope you are also getting the rest and recuperation you need. Sending warm wishes.
Great news Becky,
I sincerely hope you feel better soon you have had a very rough time and deserve a break!

Oh my that's a long time. How do you feel? Besides tender.
You will sleep so much better in your own bed, so pleased you are on the med, is there any other treatment to look forward to?

Guess you're home now. It must be a wonderful feeling. Expect Max wagged his tail enthusiastically!
I was thinking about you today and wondering how you were doing, what a rough time you have had. I am so thrilled for you that you are going home to be surrounded by the people you love and your gorgeous children.
Thank you everyone. Can't tell you how happy I am to be home. It was touch and go for a while this afternoon when they said my potassium levels were high, but they did another blood test and an ECG which were both fine so here I am finally with Max (my dog) asleep on my knee. I have to go back next week to have my potassium levels checked again and chemo is on hold for a few weeks but looking forward to my own bed tonight.

So pleased to hear this - at last!
Be prepared for ups and downs though. I had problems with potassium etc too. I'd keep a beady eye on your blood test results and also watch your magnesium. Mine stayed low after my bowel surgery last year. No-one noticed. Meanwhile my hair was coming out in clumps.
Do I need to say? Don't overdo it! x
Glad you are home with family and your loving dog . You have been through so much and will start to feel so much better now you are home . Wishing you a good recovery and best wishes with the rest of your treatment . My rescue dog ( had him 6 weeks ) has just sneaked up the stairs to say good morning !! They can't help but make you smile !! Love Kim x
So happy for you. Enjoy! ๐
Hope you start to feel better soon, you have been through it I am sure you will feel better once you get home to your family and your dog.
