Mindfulness at its best.

I took part in the RSPB big bird watch yesterday. There was nothing more peaceful than sitting quietly watching the birds in the garden for an hour. A tonic I would truly recommend!!! (A total contrast to currently sitting in an overcrowded pathology waiting room!!!!)

Love it Becky! Although I've got squirrel wars going on in my garden- just going out to buy squirrel proof feeder..although I am so soft I will probably give him a little plate of his own!

Hope you get out of the waiting room soon! I love watching the wild birds eating from the bird feeders. I was disappointed "my" two great-spotted woodpeckers didn't put in an appearance in the alloted hour!

I'm speedily running out of peanuts for our birdfeeder. Sold to us hook line and sinker by Lidl as "squirrel-proof". Hmmm. Still the squirrels are fun to watch too. And can you believe I even enjoy checking on how my bulbs are growing every day. I guess it's my very own kind of slow-mo flicker book. Keep enjoying - nature is one of the best healers x

At least the bird feeder keeps the squirrels off the bulbs lol

That is true

I keep checking my bulbs too, especially as I planted lots of new crocus bulbs in various corners to give my bees early access to nectar and pollen. I can't see any flowers at all yet. And my snowdrops that I planted the previous autumn, in anticipation of getting the bees, haven't even thrown up any leaves yet so I don't know what's happened to them. They were ok last year.

I have bird feeders in my garden, I have robins and one which is different in colour, blue tits, a coal tit, and sparrows and of course the horrible starlings. Well I know they are lovely to look at but they chase the little birds away. I put out crumbs for my robins on a garden table as they consider it too much hard work to take peanuts from my feeder. It is nice to watch nature. My bulbs are coming over ground though I feared they were upside down as it was hubby who planted them. He done that one year I am afraid, so at the moment what comes up in the front garden is a surprise to me

Poor starlings. Their numbers have fallen drastically so we need to help them. I would have agreed about them but we have a big fat greedy woodpigeon who chases all the birds away except the starlings. Although it's much bigger and eats loads the starlings work together to chase it off.

I love walking past the woods at the mo as all the birds are singing their heads off establishing territories, reminding me spring is on the way even though there is snow on the ground this morning.

Yes you are right, there arent as many starlings around this year, I stocked up today as it is quite cold here too although we dont have snow. I have one or two wood pidgeons but they are actually not invading the space at the moment. It is nice to walk by nature and observe the different things happening, My neighbours azelia is blooming as is her cherry blossom.

My snowdrops are very sparse so far this year too. But I do have loads of birds including blue, coal great and long tailed tits, robins, spotted woodpeckers, goldfinches, dunnocks, wrens and best of all a pair of nuthatches, spend a fortune on feeding them though! As you say, watching them is calming and the best therapy .🐦Xxx

I stocked up today in Dealz and I am trying meal worms for the smaller birds, I also put out an apple on to a branch this morning and it disappeared, I went to look and it has been eaten to the core.
