I started having Japanese acupuncture (the needles are slightly smaller than in Chinese acupuncture) in March 2016 since I was feeling very low in energy. I found the acupuncture to be very beneficial and it helped me feel very calm. Although I have never suffered terribly with hot flushes since having surgery in Sept 2012, I have definitely found acupuncture to help with my wellbeing especially when I have been feeling overwhelmed and tired and I therefore try to have it at least once a month if possible.
Ah honey you poor thing. I can only sympathise on the basis I seem to get them once or twice every week (despite having kept hold of one of my ovaries..!) but only at night.
I can't offer any advice (although heard some folk referring to these 'lady magnets' or something?) but wanted to send you a jolly big (& cooling) hug & hope someone comes up with a suggestion that can help. Have you discussed this with your medical team at all?
I too had severe surgical induced menopause and unfortunately could not have acupuncture due to blood clotting issues. I had 20 to 30 hot sweats every day with sweat wetting my hair and running down my back, dripping off my face, no hrt advised whilst on treatment. Personally I found if I got up and walked quickly the breeze helped and I emptied my bladder which is a heat store, even though you feel as if you can't do a thing, but most of all just staying calm and breathing with mouth open and riding it out . That started in 2013 and I now have 2 a day at most and nowhere near as severe thank goodness. Kay
Yes acupuncture has helped me. It has not gone away but has helped quite a bit.
The thing that helps me (as I cannot take any hormones) or anything similar, is a ladycare magnet. I was sceptical but it really has worked for me and cut the flushes right down.
Is yours a hormonal cancer?
I would give acupuncture try. Even my oncologist recommended it. You can apply for a grant from Macmillan to cover the cost if you need it.
Best of luck, I know how awful it is. I still struggle but it is less than it was.
I had accupuncture at my hospital, certainly helped alleviate symptoms, also a Chillow helped at night. I hard,y have any now and are definately worse with stress so meditation, yoga etc is also helpful xxx
We have an acupuncturist at our clinic and they say yes to it being helpful for hot flushes. There are different acupuncture treatments available so do check them all out. I have no personal experience as I hate needles lol
yes i have it regularly for hot flushes and swear by it
it controls them really well even when i got them at certain times it was able to reduce them !! go for it pm me if i can be of any further help x
Hey Hun, hope you feel better. Have you tried anything herbal? I used to take sage tablets which really helped me but as I'm a diabetic I had to stop using them as they would cause my sugar levels to drop. Hope that helps also acupressure can also work, cutting out dairy and coffee too. Hope you feel better soon ❤sending you love xxxx
Hi I had acupuncture to help with aftereffects of chemo including the early menopause. I found it helped me by reducing intensity and the number of hot flushes. I also think helped with my sleep. I was told could not have while on chemo due to risk infection. I was lucky to have a holistic centre and a university that trains holistic therapists near me so I was lucky and got acupuncture very cheaply. Sx
