Hello ladies
I hope your all as well as can be.
I would very much like to go on a spa day but can't find a spa that will treat cancer patients around here 😕
Any recommendations? I could really do with a day of pampering
Thanks
Asma

Hi
I am not sure where you are but my favorite Spa is at the Mercure Albrighton Hall and Spa Hotel just outside Shrewsbury.
You complete a questionnaire before any treatments and one of the questions asks whether you have cancer. The therapist then has a consultation with you to get more details and advises on how treatments can be adapted to suit my needs. I have never been refused therapy but I suppose it may depend on my health at that time and which treatments I want.
I do love the treatments but even if they were not appropriate I still find the other elements such as the jacuzzi, relaxation room, pool etc very enjoyable. There is nothing like spending the day where doing nothing and walking round in a dressing gown is compulsory for everyone not just poor old sicky me!

Perhaps you could google to see if there is a spa near you that caters for Cancer Patients, what you would be looking for is Light touch Theraphy. It is available in some of the Spas here but in the meantime you can just go and not have a treatment just use the facilities which suit you.
hay, I have googled it but didn't really find anything near me I will relook at the light touch therapy.
Thank you x
I've been to quite a few spa days, some whilst in the middle of treatment (but I didn't use the jacuzzi, pool or steam room on those occasions). All spas would accept me as long as I had a letter from my consultant confirming that I can have treatments.
Enjoy, I love spa days

Maybe my approach is very wrong but I never tell them ! I'm under the impression the only reason they wouldn't treat you is that they treat cancer like pregnancy and are worried u would sue if something untoward happened ORVAULT if you thought it progressed your cancer! My onc is happy for me to have massages and i regularly use oils on my self anyway ...I don't get to go to spa that often but when I do Its to get away from cancer and last thing I want us some young one harping on about what I can or can't have ! The only exception I make is that I wouldn't go if my bloods were low or if I did I wouldn't use steam room sauna or jacuzzis for risk of infection .why don't you talk to your Med onc ; I( I avoid my cns as she uses the party line for everything ! ) and see what they are happy with. I just found out I'm in 2 nd recurrence and my v kind and generous sister is taking me to five star spa to soften the blow ..bliss !! Hope you get some well deserved pampering soon 🕯🎎
Hi I went to Champneys in Bedfordshire. It's so beautiful there. It was lovely. I only had a facial, but even then the girl had to check with her supervisor ,before she went ahead. And I was eight months post chemo. She gave me a facial ,arm and hands massage,it was lovely. Then there is the pool, sauna etc. The food was so good too. Hope you get somewhere.xxxx
