Maybe an odd question

I'm having my last chemo treatment of single agent Carboplatin on Tuesday. I asked my onc if I could go to Spain three weeks later and she said yes but I'm reading my labs and my white cell count seems low. Of course I will ask her tomorrow but has anyone had any in flight experience? Should I wear a mask?

I am planning a holiday after my chemo(carbo only) finishes at the end of September . I am paranoid about picking up infections and will definitely be wearing a mask on the plane which is all recycled air. Your white cell count may bounce back quickly but personally I wouldn't take any chances as that holiday is precious. Usually the white call count reaches its lowest level 3 weeks after carboplatin and then begins to regroup . Have a great trip.

Hi after my chemo,I went on holiday, I did ask my onc he said as long as I felt fine he didn't see a problem, I was still careful and washed my hands a lot, I didn't wear a mask although if it makes, you feel more comfortable about not catching anything good idea. I was fine and really enjoyed the holiday.

Have a great break xx

I was told to wait six weeks post chemo, but if I really had to go make sure I wore flight stockings and drink plenty during the flight and for 24 hours before.

Have a fab time

I believe I have already learned the hydration lesson the hard way. Thanks for the reminders

I have been away while on treatment and really just brought hand gets and wipes. I have never used a mask on a plane to be honest. I know the air is recycled but I used Nasal spray as in a salt spray at the beginning of flight and during the flight and as we were coming into land mainly for sinus issues and I was fine

Never wore a face mask when travelling but took hand gel and wipes but I read if you put vasaline on your nostrils this helps enjoy your holiday

I believe it is. It goes by different names. I have used it my entire chemo off and on. once you get past the injections it is not too bad. HUGS, Carol
