Desperately need advice

Good morning ladies . Need some advice. Four years ago i was diagnosed with endometriosis. Within months of my diagnosis i had a subtotal hysterectomy - ovaries, tubes and cervix still in tact. Since having the op the pain hadn't really subsided. But it was livable.

Around 6 months ago the pain in my right side began getting worse. I was constantly bloated, pain in my tail bone, back and groin. I was peeing like i was pregnant and would get full up very quickly. I had an ultrasound scan on 31st may which came back normal. I was convinced something was seriously wrong so i was relieved when scan ok. However, on 22nd June i was in so much pain i ended up in a&e. Everything happened so fast but basically a gyny did another ultrasound and found i had an abscess in my tube and a mass on my ovary. I was rushed down to theatre but because of my previous surgeries i had to have vertical open surgery. I had a salpingo-oopherectomy and wash out.

Surgery was only 10 days ago so im not expecting miracles. However, the pain in my right side directly underneath an old appendix scar is absolutely horrific. I've never experienced anything like it. I've had a csection, laproscopic hysterectomy and appendectomy and was walking around at least a week post surgery. This one though is horrendous. Is the pain under my scar normal? I am really struggling at the minute. A biopsy was also taken in my stomach lining above where the ovary would have been. Stressing at the minute and sorry about the long message

I had a full hysterectomy etc in March this year (vertical abdominal Surgery) and I was in a lot of pain for the first couple of weeks after my Op. I suggest you ring your GP and try and get a telephone call back or an emergency appt. or ring your surgeons office for advice if you have a clinical nurse. Hope this pain reduces soon

Take care

Just a thought are you not taking painkillers after your op. I had to take them every four hours for a month even if I felt OK. This was to prevent scaring and any pain which can occur from scarring. I would also ring someone for advice. Hope you feel better soon xx

Hi, thanks for replies. Yes i am sill taking medication. My appendectomy was 11 years ago. I can't imagine it would be as painful as it is. Around my wound is completely numb. Left side is normal. But right side is numb from the wound until you reach the old scar. The pain touching the old scar is unbearable. Below the appendectomy is also numb. Really is bizarre xx

Are you still in hospital? I would consult your surgeon or CNS. After my epidural was removed I had only two days of severe pain. However, I have had no previous operations, which could well count for the difference.

Hi no im not. Came out three days after the operation. Gonna give my doctor a call in the mornin . Thank you all

Yes best to get it checked but early days her. It takes 6 weeks recovery time and all you can lift is a cuppa nothing heavier. Hope pain gets sorted but it may well be post op pain

Dear Sara, I have to admit to the pain being considerable a week after my operation but your pain seems very high. If the gp does not help you today I would consider going back to a&e. Please tell the gp exactly what you wrote to us. Because you were admitted via an emergency I suspect you are not in the Gynae medical system yet? I'm so sorry you are in this much pain. Do you have someone with you to help? I'm no dr (honestly were all unfortunate experts on this site) so maybe this is to be expected if old scar tissue is cut? This site made me realise that you sometimes need to raise your voice to get the extra help/drugs you need. T. X
