My trip to Ireland & Scotland after my last chemo!

Hi Ladies, I had my first recurrence this January, began chemo of carbo/taxol and I have 2 treatments left to go, one in March and one in April. I want to start doing something fun so in June my husband and I and another couple are planning a trip to Ireland and Scotland! I am getting very excited about this trip as I have always wanted to go to these two special places! I love taking pictures and being outdoors and I am looking for ideas, advice of good places to go and places to stay away from, etc. We would like to stay in bed and breakfast inns. I have researched online and looked in books but I truly have no idea where to start. We are planning on flying into Dublin and we will have about 2 1/2 weeks to see as much as possible! Can you help me with my plans!?! Thank you in advance, With love, Tracy

Me too. I live in Scotland - if you tell me how long you're planning to be here I'll be happy to share some of my favourite places to see.

I live in Cork Ireland and you have to see the South West of Ireland, I take it ye will hire a car? If you are coming south, I will research some places for you to stay if you confirm whether it is by car or public transport. From Dublin, you can take tour buses into Wicklow. Let me know and I will do my best to help you out with places to stay

Hello Tracy!

I am from the wild west coast of Ireland and you should get over this side of the country if you can! The scenary is truly spectacular (if you get the weather!!) And even if you don't get the weather it's a special place......I am not at all biased....😂😂😂😂

There are many places to recommend but here are a few! Westport in Co Mayo, Connemara in Co Galway! The Burren in Co Clare Inishowen in Co Donegal which is very close to Northern Ireland and wonderful places like the Giants Causeway!!! Just a few tips but get back to me if you have somewhere in mind and want some tips!!!! Don't miss Edinburgh in Scotland it's an amazing city!!!!

Above all enjoy your trip and please don't let the weather bother you it's very temperamental in both Ireland and Scotland so bring the waterproofs! !!!

Hello Tracy, from this list I have personal experience of a hiking holiday in the Burren. I can thoroughly recommend it. It's a weird and wonderful landscape, miles and miles of limestone paving. At times, it was almost like a lunar landscape, or how I imagine a lunar landscape might be. But in many of the little cracks there we're rare and wonderful flowers hiding. It was a great holiday. We went when Foot and Mouth was at its height in the UK and walking restrictions were everywhere, making a joined up trip difficult to arrange, so Irelabd it was. Truly great scenery and friendly people. Must go again. Helen

Depending on how long you are in Scotland for and what your interests are I can certainly help there. For example what transport will you have etc. Scotland has so many beautiful places and the people are so very friendly. My family are all up there. Feel free to contact me for more info. :)
