Last chemo (second line)

Suzanne333 profile image

Today is my last chemo (taxol only as I’m allergic to carbo now)

I’m just thinking already of third line as I only got 8 months remission after first line. Also I can’t have carbo so am really going to push for cisplatin so I’ll be platinum sensitive therefore eligible for olaparib.

It’s a bugger not being able to have carbo as I keep thinking it will make my prognosis worse ( not that I know or want to know what my prognosis is)

Hoping all you lovely ladies are doing ok. Sending you all a very big hug. Xxxxxx

Hope it goes well. 🎉 Make sure you have a nice treat to celebrate. Anyway, you should concentrate on enjoying right now. Don't waste time worrying about next line you never know, it could be a whole lot longer than 8 months 🙏

Hi Suzanne, wudnt you be eligible for Olaparib now? Might be worth asking, if you havent already. Being allergic to Carbo wont make you platinum insensitive (or whatever the expression is) . take care. Kathy xx

Suzanne333 in reply to Katmal-UK

Hi Kathy.

The guidelines for olaparib are you have to be at least third line ( which I will be next time) you have to be BRCA positive (which I am) but you have to be platinum sensitive and I’m platinum resistant now. If I can have and can tolerate cisplatin then I will fulfill the three guidelines so I’m hoping for cisplatin.

I hope you are doing ok. Hugs xxxxx

Suzanne you’ve got this one done, now enjoy time “off”. Even if it’s a short time, as in my case I only got 2 months after second line, you will make it count. Then whatever comes next you will have had some spring beauty and days getting longer ... and loads of other things personal to you to make you feel good.

All the best

Hi Netti.

Thank you. Yes I will. Spring is coming and I’m going to put the c word out of my mind.

My partner got a job so things are looking up. Maybe our luck is changing.

I hope everything is going ok with you.

Thanks it’s not as bad as I feared on the Rucaparib. Early days to see if it’s working. I’m so glad your man got a new job. Brilliant.

Take care xxxx

Hi Suzanne. As the girls say, give yourself a treat for getting through the chemo. It's a big achievement and some of us don't get this far. Live life to the max and don't worry about the what ifs. Well done my friend. Big love xxxx

Aww thank you Kryssy. Yes I am going to have some sort of treat this weekend. Sod cancer. It’s hopefully gone now. I don’t know my CA125. I’ve not known it throughout this second line.

I hope everything is good with you.

Hugs xxxx

I'm good but a bit sad that number one son isn't here anymore. House seems so quiet without him. He's 42 going on 12 so makes a noise but makes us laugh a lot too. Got to get up out of the pit as things to do. Hubby gone for his regular blood test so I've got his warm patch. May just stay for another half hour zzzzz love and hugs and bugger off cancer xxxxxx

Aww. It’s horrible when the house is quiet. I don’t like like quiet. I’m sure your son will be popping by and making you laugh.

My son is 21. Acts about 6 lol. He lives here but I barely see him. He works then comes home, eats dinner then plays stupid computer games in his room.

I hope you have a good day today. I too have to get up soon. My sister is coming to chemo with me today. Usually it’s my other half but he got a job (yay) . My sister is hilarious. Great sense of humour so we will be laughing a lot and probably get told off 😂😂

Have a great day. Lots of hugs xxxx

It probably doesn't feel like that to you, but I could't believe you were at the end of it! Enjoy your freedom. x

Thank you. I’ll get this done then have a good weekend. I don’t feel bad after chemo as I’m only on taxol. I’ve been going to work. I’ve been lucky in that respect.

I’m getting up now and having a nice shower and a good breakfast.

I hope you have a good day and lovely weekend.

Hugs. Xxxxx

Welldone Suzanne. Isn’t it funny how we strive to get to our last chemo, then the next pattern of thoughts creep in.

Wishing you a wonderful celebration, not only this weekend but every day off chemo, for how ever long that may be. It’s the one thing we just can’t predict.

I worry my 2nd line remission will be shorter than the 1st and that was only 3 months :( but then I think, there’s a possibility it could be longer! Constant mental battle! Xxx

Yes you are so right. I sort of think - what now? Has it gone? It might still be there. Does your head in.

I’m going to put it out of my mind and just get on with living. I’m Here today and I’ll be here tomorrow. That’s all I need to think about.

I hope you are doing ok. Big hugs xxxxx

Nice. We don’t have a bell. They should get one. Lol xxx hope you are ok. Hugs. Xxx

I hope this treatment has done what it should do, and please do something nice to celebrated this weekend. Don't even think about another treatment, there is no reason why you cant get longer this time around, Its a bit of an anti climax finishing treatment but do go and see your Macmillan Nurse and perhaps a Counsellor because it is when treatment finishes we have time on our hands and feel insecure

Hi Suzanne, gosh it does not seem that long ago you were starting treatment, hope all has gone well and you will get a really long remission, sadly I start again on Monday carbo/Caylex a little apprehensive as I don't know much about this drug, sending hugs and wishes your way

Hi Loren. Aww I’m

Sorry you are back on treatment. I’m not hopeful for a long remission as I had taxol only as had a reaction to carbo on the third cycle.

But I’ll remsin positive.

My friend is on caelyx and another is in caelyx and carbo. They’re doing just fine in it so please don’t worry - easier said than done I know.

Keep positive. Keep strong. Xxxxxxx hugs.
