Funny life.

I heard myself say to someone this week "I've been so lucky with my health, if it wasn't for the cancer, I'd be completely healthy." It struck me how I have become so used to having cancer in my life that I minimise its importance. Is that weird?

I'm kind to myself. I let myself rest for at least 3 days after chemo. I don't do stuff I don't fancy. I enjoy the stuff I do fancy. I try not to spend too much time thinking about it, or even worrying about it. I have this cartoon on my work lap top and it makes me smile every day.

Thinking of you all and sending good wishes.

Good grief, Jo-Bo: I'd forgotten all about Peanuts! Thank you so much for your words and the cartoon. You are a star for reminding us that there is so much good still going on in our lives.

Brilliant, made me smile and yes you have a great philosophy!!

Although difficult to hold onto during times of chemo effects, but must think there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Accepting that living with cancer is a way of life for all our ladies somehow helps in not fighting but just accepting and doing what needs to be done, if that makes sense!!

Much love JackieO xx

What a brilliant post, just what I need at the moment. Do you know where I could get a copy of the cartoon, I think it would be good to have a visual message to help keep me focused.

Don't know where to find it. Someone posted it on Facebook ages ago and I liked it so much I used a snipping tool and turned it into a j peg. If you want a copy I can email it to you, but I'll need your address.

Lovely message and cartoon Jo-Bo. I've just copied and pasted it into an email to my Mum! I find I forget she has cancer as she is really quite active and still looks really healthy and she's 79! Jane x

Well, if my 85 year old mother used email I would have done the same.... She too is v active and healthy and has had cancer, but is absolutely closed to the benefits of technology! You're lucky!

Wow your Mum sounds amazing. What a great age. I'm really lucky that my Mum is good with technology. She's ahead of me actually!! She watches things on iPlayer and follows Russell Crowe on Twitter!! She emails me before bed every night and I reply in the morning. I'm a really early riser and I enjoy doing my morning email to her whilst I'm eating my bran flakes! I've just finished this morning's! We can both touch type really fast so I think that helps. She also learned to text a couple of years ago so that's a useful form of contact too. Hope you are keeping OK. Jane x

Thanks for posting this great cartoon.

I know just what you mean and I have been saying and feeling something similar: "I'm very well AND I have cancer".

Mind you, I expect I'll change my tune a bit when I start chemo again, even if I'm determined not to!

This reminds me of something a friend of my parents said when he was diagnosed with terminal cancer when I was a child and it has stayed with me.

He said 'there's really no such thing as dying, you're either alive or dead'

I think he was very determined to squeeze as much living out of life even when he was feeling very poorly. It is also something for friends to remember. As I think people are so often at a loss how to behave, what to do etc. and what he wanted was them to carry on the same as long as possible and to enjoy life

Love the cartoon, and Jo Bo's post. I'm often stuck with whether to tick the disabled box when I fill forms in. Most of the time I'm very fit an healthy but I can't say it hasn't affected my life in a negative way and when I'm on chemo, as now, that box is definitely ticked.

What an amazing attitude and I love the Snoopy cartoon! You have done what needs to be done with cancer and put it on the back burner. It's still there but it's not front and center. I will have to follow your lead to shove my cancer to the back burner and focus on all of my good days! Thank you for your post and your beautiful attitude and reminder that there is so much more to be grateful for!

Now that made me chuckle!! I know what you mean though, it does just become part of your life. It's really weird. However, as long as I CAN keep living with it, I will!

Take care

Hi Jo-Bo......so funny that you posted about being healthy except for the cancer....I've been saying that since I was diagnosed! We may as well have a positive attitude. First, it helps us with our physical health, and even if it didn't, why be miserable when we can find happiness in all the little things. I also just saw that Peanuts cartoon on FB.....love it!

Best to you and Merry Christmas!........Judy
