Has anybody on the site had a second opinion from the Royal Marsden. I don't like the uncertainty of 'wait and see' following a 'successful' round of chemo. I spoke to a CNS at the Royal Marsden and she said it was an excellent idea to ask for 'Phase One' treatment. Does anybody know precisely what this is?
Thanks,
Gio

I was wondering though, why you would want an early stage trial if your treatment has been successful? I presume you mean you feel it will inevitably come back. i can't understand why the CNS mentioned Phase I in particular when doctors try so far as possible, to match the type of PPC/Ovarian/F.tube to the drug which has been shown to have been the most successful. Xx
I am very wary of becoming on a 'roller coaster' of chemo. I was one of those unfortunate people who relapsed after very successful 1st line chemo and very major surgery. The outcome of both chemo and surgery were deemed as excellent but I was quite a challenging case, I have ppc, and even at the surgery stage the gynae surgeon thought the challenge of my being clear was unpredictable. I relapsed after only six WEEKS, I am certainly not a fatalist, I am very robust and I admit I band words around without at the moment fully understanding their implications. I expect to see my onc. in two weeks and will get a clearer picture of where he recommends I go forward. I will keep the site posted hoping it will help me and help others. Cheers, and thanks for your reply. Gio
Hi Gio
I have been to the Royal Marsden, but not for a second opinion. I was referred to talk to them twice last year, to talk about options for Chemo and timing of participating in trials. They made recommendations back to my consultant. They were great people and it helped me understand more about what my consultant had said to me.
I've been diagnosed with ovarian cancer last year and was quickly referred to the Royal Marsden. They agreed with my oncologist and operated doing debulking washings etc I had good news that most of the cancer was benign but for a little patch on one ovary which they think metastasised from the bowel of which they removed a part of too. I had no other treatment. Since then I've been discharged from RM and referred back to another oncologist for another type of cancer can't remember the name , but am due to have an octreotide scan next Wed to scan for NETS. I'm having hot flushes all the time and my heart gets a gallop on for no reason. Apparently my hormones are out of whack. CT scan planned for beginng of March and results of these tests plus the echo of my heart at the 24 March. RM was very quick to sort me out so I expect there are reasons to postpone your op. I'm not sure this post is what you're looking for but thought I'd try anyway. I'm taking each day as it comes and enjoying the good bits. I would recommend the complementary therapy Reiki as this will help your mind as well as your body. Good luck 😊
Thank you what a nice post. I see my oncologist on Thursday so I hope that he will feel OK to refer me, he knows I don't like 'wait and see'. I will let you know. Best wishes for your future treatment. Gio x
