Hello Karen
Yes. I have done this- going to the Sutton branch. I was referred by my oncologist as we were running out of options. It turned out to be a good move for me as I was put on a drugs trial. It was a long journey for me too and had to continue to make it every 3 weeks to be monitored so its a commitment but one I would happily make again. Its a great hospital, great staff and it makes a change to go somewhere with a 'can do' attitude. Everyone else has cancer too which helps.
All the very best. I am sure its the right thing to do. Giving you peace of mind that you have explored every option.
Love Sarah
If you need recomms as to where to stay - assuming you're going to Sutton. Let me know.
My wife went to Sutton for a 2nd opinion in Dec 2011 and had treatment - that our original Onc wouldnt give - for a year or so. The team under Prof Kaye or Dr Banerjee are all good and friendly.
In all the time we went, probably 40 visits in all, i would say that 90% of them we were kept hanging around for ages....only saying that to warn you to bring a good book.
But nice staff, nice place, good restaurant and good luck.
Hi. I went to the Royal Marsden in London for a second opinion and Prof Gore was excellent - explained everything well and gave me a lot of info. Had some chemo there and now been referred to the RM. at Sutton which is just as good. I'm on a Phase 1 trial here. There usually is quite a lot of waiting so do take something to do! Hope it goes well.

I am having treatment at the RM under Dr Banerjee and I recommend the hospital, It's a Centre of Excellence and you can tell. The journey is a bind but I know that at the end of the day I'm in the right place for the best treatment. People come from all over the world for treatment, it's an amazing place.
Hi
I go to London RMH - Professor Gore - for second opinion. I usually send ahead information CA, CT scans and reports and my doctor here in Greece sends a report. I found the advice useful even when it simply confirms my doctor here plus excellent responsiveness even to emails.
All the best.
Hi
My sister was referred there in October 2012 (Sutton not London). They are amazing, They request your file from your current hospital/oncologist so they prepared when you have your appointment. The doctors meet beforehand so they can discuss your file and what treatment options are available. With my sister, they did do more blood tests and did some genetic testing as well. They will also let you know if you are eligible for any trials that may be available. They are truly excellent as they are a research hospital first and foremost so they are at the cutting edge of new medical treatments for this horrid disease.
Best of luck

Karen, you are going to an excellent hospital, just remember that. You will be in good hands. I hope they can help.
Good luck
