Ok, Im back and theres a lot of info for me to take in. Im not going on a trial or any more chemo at this stage as what I have is slow growing and the professor said that hes going to write to my onc and see about putting em on letrazole to slow the growth of it, as what I have is difficult to treat. he said my OC is in only 10% of cases.

Has anyone else had letrazole and was it successful? He said 'when' the cancer starts to grow then they will look at chemo, so a standard one or a trial. Although taxol didnt work they said a lower dose weekly taxol might be an option, as well as other drugs.

So feeling a bit bleh after that appointment as I always as after trying to take in all the info it whacks me out slightly. Im am slightly scared though.

Hi Sunny.

I have low grade ovca.I was diagnosed two years ago, after the surgery,I had six cycles of Carboplatin,it put me in remission for 9 months.

In January I had a relapse, and I was put on Letrozole as a trial,I am going back for ct scan in two weeks to see if it is working! My oncologist explained that in low grade cancer cases, they aim at keeping the disease stable !

She said if Letrozole didn't work she will put me on chemo again!

sorry I couldn't give you a reassuring answer, but please stay positive, and don't be scared ! At least the low grade cancer is slow growing !so,it will give you time to be there when they find the right treatment fo it!

I wish you luck and good health.

Hi raza thankyou for that, it seems we are very similar in terms of what we have, what we have had done etc. Thankyou for the encouragement I really appreciate it. Let us know how your scan goes. tell me, where do you still have cancer and why wasnt it removed in your op? I have a 'flap' of it near my diaphragm so a hard area to operate on.

Hi sunny.

Originally the surgery was a success, they managed to remove all visible tumors! They recommended the carboplatin as a precaution and to kill the invisible cancer cells,it worked for nine months! Now I have a recurrence, small nodes scattered in the abdomen !they are not going to start the chemo till I have some symptoms !that is why they put me on Letrozole.

I was thinking to go to Royal Marsden for second opinion! But it seems they all have the same approach in dealing with low grade ovca .

Best wishes.

Hiya. As I have a bit of reprieve from chemo for the time being, Im taking matters into my own hands, researching alternative and dietary stuff. I have been taking apricot kernels now for quite a few weeks and juicing daily. I never had a problem with my blood count during chemo and my scar healed so quickly. I need to do more but theres a lot of info on the net and Im realistic, I know its easy to get swept along by people that have 'cured themselves' without chemo, but I have to remain in the camp that believes that the drs dont know everything and I dont want to pin all my hopes on them otherwise Ill go mad. The reason we get cancer is because of something wrong in our bodies and rather than put a sticking plaster on it (chemo) Id also like to treat the cause of why I developed it and try myself to get rid. Ok pie in the sky some might think but I have hope, and I have hope of other remedies too that dont involve poison (yet I will still receive it).

Sorry, off on a tangent there. Im very interested to hear how it goes for you on letrozole, feel free to pm me
