Diganoised with breast cancer July 2013. Have had surgery, chemo and radiotherpy have been taking Anastrozole since April. Is anyone taking this drug and what side effects are you having, I have joint pain, sickness but most of all hot flushes that are awful some days I have one every 45mins last 10-15 mins. It's driving me mad.

This is actually a group for people with ovarian cancer, so it may be that you would get more responses from a breast cancer group.

However I had breast cancer before OC. I was on Anastrozole for a while and experienced all the side effects you mentioned. I tried all four of the aromatase inhibitors (Letrozole, Exemestane and I can't remember the other Arimidex maybe?) and they all have different side effects to one degree or another. My solution was to go with the one that caused me least!

Good luck with finding what works best for you.

Hi RagaMuffin

I was diagnosed with Breast and Ovarian Cancer 2013. Had chemo surgery and radiotherapy. I am on Letrozole now and suffer some of the side effects that goes with these aromatase inhibitors, stiff joints and awful hot flushes. ( Not sickness). I was told that if side effects were too bad to say so as they can try the others. I am about to have acupuncture to see if it helps with the hot flushes. This is being offered by one of our breast nurse specialists. I would go back and speak with your oncologist or nurse specialist .

Last year I was on a trial of Anastrazole (also known as Arimadex) for 6 months to see if it would control my OC. I was told they were trialling it with some patients whose tumours were hormone sensitive. I had a few hot flushes at the beginning, but they soon stopped. I think I had a few pins & needles in my hands at times for a while, but not a lot of trouble. I was disappointed that two of my tumours still grew a bit, & they had to take me off the trial & give me chemo.
