Travel Insurance!!!

Morning everyone,

We have just booked a holiday for the New Year following my final chemo a few weeks ago. I've booked travel insurance through 'All Clear Travel' but it cost a blinking fortune to cover my OC, I have 14 days to find something else and just wondered if any of you have any recommendations?

Hi Lisa

Try Insurewith or MIA. They have always been pretty reasonable in the past. Depends where you are going. We only do Europe. Have a great holiday. Xx

Thanks, it is Europe. I'll give it a go now, thanks so much. x

Hi Lisa what a great idea! I used MIA travel insurance.. I went to Cyprus in August for 8 days cost me £75... it's better to ring them and talk through the OC bit... Love Michelle xx

Hi Michelle, I'm waiting for a call back from them, fingers crossed. X

Try Insurancewith.com, a couple of my friends, with different cancers, have used them and found them to be very reasonable.

I used Insurancewith for my hols to Lanzarote. It was about a month after I finished active treatment and cost around £45. I'm not sure what it would have cost if I'd have still been having chemo.

Hi, I tried them, got quite a shock. The stage I'm at seems to make a huge difference the minute i mark the box 'spread to other parts of my body' it jumps up by lots of hundreds! Do you mind me asking what stage you are?

Best, Lisa x

Stage 3. I had finished chemo though and was three weeks clear when I got the insurance - that seemed to make a difference.

You can ask for them to insure everything but your condition and that brings the price down (or so I have read - not tried myself!).

in reply toYoshbosh

That sounds really similar to me stage and clear wise. Might try them again. Thanks x

Good luck with it. I did the online quote and answered all the questions as honestly as possible. I had called them before I was three weeks clear and the lady said to hang on until I was clear of the window. I asked her if she could give me an indication and she said 'less than £250' - I was shocked and relieved it was only £45!!

I've done it again and managed to get it down to 130 for 3 of us which is fantastic compared to 500 from all clear travel! Thank you so much..xxx

Does this cover you for anything/everything cancer related?

All the companies I've tried I could only get it down to a reasonable price by covering everything but my cancer. I use 'free' insurance from my bank with my cancer declared and not covered. This means we can't claim for cancellation etc. but if I break a leg I'm covered.

Hello, It's everything declared and covered. I was stunned at the difference but they do get down to the specifics which all clear travel didn't. I wouldn't dare not cover the cancer as we did that in the summer and lost a holiday.

The only difference I can think of is I'm 'non-curable' and although I'm stable at the moment, it has spread (pelvic recurrence only) and will return at some point.

Last quote I got was more than the holiday so we book last minute and take the chance. I always make sure I have enough funds to get home if required but refuse to pay extortionate insurance.

I have been told too about Eurotunnel, will be giving them a ring myself as soon as I finish my chemo in Jan. x

I'll try them too and let you know how I get on.

Thank you,
