Had first cycle of abraxane/carboplatin for 4th line treatment on 14th. I have never felt so ill. Bloated stomach, wiped out. Feeling very sorry for myself. How am I going to manage another 5 cycles. I always draw strength from everyone on here. Please help

Dear Shabila

I'm really sorry to read you're suffering so much after the first dose of abraxane/carboplatin. Have you been in touch with your CNS to let them know how you feel and ask for advice? Sometimes I think we tend to suffer in silence.

I don't know anything about that combination and have never heard of abraxane before. The only offering I can make is that I started a new regime in October and the first dose knocked me for six whilst the remainder have been much better. I just hope that's the case for you but the other option seems to be to reduce the dose if it's too much - well that's what I was told for my particular situation.

I hope today brings you better times and better cheer. Thinking of you. xxxx Love Annie

Thank you so much for your response Annie. Today thank God was a better day. I actually managed to crawl out of bed. Spoke to both the oncologist and the chemo nurses and both of them reassured me that I was probably feeling so rough because the chemo was working on the cancer. Praying that they are right and this combination knocks the cancer to smithereens. Onwards and upwards. Much love and best wishes xxx

So sorry your suffering so badly I agree with Annie may be reduce your dosage, I was knocked for six the first of my 2nd line treatment of paxitaxol/carboplatin But they had forgotten to give me steroids. but 2nd dose with anti sickness etc. all was ok accept for tiredness. Worth checking out you were given all antidopes to treatment?

Love Jenny xx

Shabila - so sorry to hear your latest treatment has started off so badly. I have no experience of abraxane but having had 3 lines of chemo I know that each regime can have very different side effects. Hopefully it is doing the job and your next dose will be more tolerable. Good luck. Lots of love xxxxxx Colette
