Abraxane

Does anyone know about Abraxane? A friend has moved to this instead of Paclitaxel and apparently it's a much shorter treatment. An hour or half an hour rather than 5 hours. I wondered if anyone here knew about it?

Update: Liver Mets and falling tumor marker numbers

My doctor was not at all worried and feels the Abraxane should address the liver mets. He was quite pleased that after one cycle of Abraxane my tumor markers had decreased by 1/3--far more than he'd hoped--and my liver numbers are stable.

Chemo Neuropathy on fingers

As it was my last chemo, they may not give me one as it was single dose of Abraxane. Has anyone been in this situation? What are they doing to solve this? Thanks so much

Say goodbye to my hair (for the third time)

After three weeks of weekly doses of Abraxane my hair is falling out everywhere. So later today my daughter will shave it. I love my hair so thought I'd get my husband to take a photo to remind me that I've been bald before but that it always grows back.

New regime for Primary Peritoneal grade 4 and breast/axilla grade 3.

I am to have Abraxane (hopefully won't react to this taxane as the carrier is different), Avastin, Herceptin and Perjeta. Having it in one session, 3 weekly and I suspect it will knock me for six. Anybody out there had a similar combination?

Clinical Trials

I went through 7 different treatments and was about to start abraxane in April. My oncologist was not excited about this because I already have neuropathy from taxol, and abraxane would most likely make it worse.

Encouraging CT results on Abraxane

So...we stay the course, Abraxane every other week, keep monitoring liver enzyme levels and CA15-3 (it's been holding at around 135 for the last two months) and ride this train as far as it will take me.

New to SHARE!

I had 10 cycles of Abraxane and Carbo IV chemo which helped tremendously in reducing the cancer that had returned on my liver, spine, and ribs. On June 1st of 2020 I began Talzenna. I had to stop on 8-17-20 due to it not working on my liver lesions.

No improvement some areas worse

I was started on Abraxane as it is his go to chemo drug. Now I have no idea what he will do. I hate chemo and how it makes me feel but placed all my hope in the fact it would finally do something and make some of those bone Mets clear up.

Genomic testing for the right drug for your type of cancer cell.

I just started Abraxane last week. First two days were ok third day muscle and bone pain set in. My legs swelled up so bad I could not walk. Was a little better. Anyone try abraxane?. Seems like the only time I feel good is when I am not on any treatment or one that is not working.

Good news!

I hope it encourages others who may be needing to start on Taxol or Abraxane. I started Abraxane in February after my early January scan showed a lot more liver metastases. I also have lots of bone mets. I had been on Xeloda for 7 months before that.

Newcomer - Frederica

In April of this year I started on Abraxane and Tecentriq. I am on my 3rd month. My numbers have gotten better, my pain is gone (of course they immediately put me on pain meds and am now on a fentanyl patch - wonderful bit of medicine), as is most of the swelling.

Back to Radiation!!

So hoping to start next week- I just did 3 months of Abraxane and 2 months of Doxil with zero success. He is looking into a few more chemo options-sacituzumab govitecan soon to be approved by FDA. Other options as well. Can you share any tricks for radiation-it’s been 5 years since I went thru it.

Preventing/treating neuropathy from Abraxane or Taxol?

I've had six Abraxane treatments since February. I'm thrilled that it's dropping my cancer marker, but I think I'm starting to have a bit of neuropathy...either that or someone is sneaking into my bedroom in the middle of the night and putting pins in the pad of my big toes.

What’s next?

Looking for some treatment options after Abraxane has failed- been on it for 3 cycles of 3 with a week off in between- I’m 5 years into treatment- I’m Triple Negative that doesn’t help matters. My son is getting married in May and I need to be there!!!
