Abraxane/Taxol, mixed response and what are they draining?

Hi lovely ladies, I recently posted about cannon balls in my abdomen, it turns out I’ve been growing a cyst which oncologist thinks could be a reaction to chemo, undecided as yet. (Only took 6 weeks to eventually examine me!)) Onc said Cyst needed draining but hospital admission letter for tomorrow states a liver/blocked bile duct drain and stent. Also mixed response to 10 of 18 weekly Taxol, on hold for now. Maybe change to another regime., onc said maybe in overnight, letter says couple of days. Not sure what to make of it all, any advice? Just feel a bit flat and in limbo not knowing what’s wrong and where do we go from here. Stay well and happy. Bex x

I hate it when that happens…they say one thing in clinic and the letter says something else. Can you ring your nurse specialist to check? Good luck with it whatever happens, let’s hope they can get it sorted out so that you feel better xx

Thanks Lyndy, as you probably know cancer doesn’t happen on a weekend so no one available other than hotline.😞 I’m looking forward to feeling better. Xx

Hi Bev, I also have the cannon ball cyst which I've had for longer than 6 months. I've had ascites drained which was either side of it and has made eating easier because mine squashes my stomach, it is quite big so I am very interested that yours is being sorted out as there has been no mention of that with mine. Perhaps I need to push for it a bit more as it is uncomfortable but I have just finished weekly Taxol having had Caelyx/Carboplatin which didn't work and made me feel really awful so I wasn't really feeling like any more needles.

I'm now on the prompt trial feeling better and hoping it's going to work.

My onc keeps insisting my liver is fine.

Hope you soon get sorted out Sue xx

Hi Sue, they said it will need doing again but the immediate feeling of relief is amazing. Onc did say they would have to consult with radiology to confirm it was in a drainable position, could yours be in an awkward place? If not push for it, I feel so well. Xxx

Hi Bex, Mine is in front of my stomach and I will definitely talk to my onc about it next time I see her. Thanks for the information. Sue xx

Hi Sue, just in post op recovery now and it feels better already. Not sure if we have matching cysts but they drained 2 litres from the cyst which was in my liver. Can’t wait to eat. Have a good day and stay well xxx

I’m glad to hear you have had it drained and are feeling better! Also the cyst being in your liver reconciles what the onc told you with the letter. I hope things go well from here!
