What a Drama!!

Sandra had her scan on wednesday and reported for treatment for the 2nd week of cycle 3 of her gem/carb yesterday. This is the week you receive only a 30min infusion of gem alone. We had the bloods done as usual to find after waiting 3 hrs that the neutrophils were low at 1.1 so the decision was made to reduce the dose to 50% strength but it would take at least a further 3 hrs. Rather than wait we asked for it to be administered first thing this morning. So we arrived crack of dawn to find an error had been made by the nurse and the treatment was not prepared as planned and there would be an undisclosed delay. We made the clinical decision to abandon treatment this week and return home. We felt that since we are waiting for scan results next week this treatment would have no bearing on that clinic plus Sandra was feeling a little flu.ed up this morning anyway so with low bloods we decided it best to abandon this low dose of gem and wait for next weeks results. Love Paul xx

Oh. dear. I hope the flu bug doesn't develop and that you and Sandra can enjoy some of this lovely weather. Cx

Smart I think -- sometimes the stress of it all can be counterproductive I think! Hope Sandra manages to slough off the flu and get fit for next week

Thank you everyone, her flu like feelings have subsided and feeling better but still being careful with neutrophils being low. We are confident we made the right decision yesterday and looking forward to getting scan and CA results this week. Love Paul xx

Hi Paul

Glad that Sandra is feeling a bit better, nothing worse than going in for treatment already feeling low. Low neuts alone can make you feel flu like, aching and generally unwell so as they rise she should continue to improve.

Best of luck and thinking of you both

Love Amanda
