Hello, I think I posted somewhere else as well but maybe incorrectly. I was at -2.7 a year ago. since then I started once/week fosamax (only bloating as a side effect) and began strength training 3 months ago. my Dexascan last week showed -2.3. Unsure if its was due to the fosamax, the strength training or most likely both. I do have concerns about the fosamax - femur fractures and jaw issues and would prefer not to take it but will continue for now.
fosamax/strength training: Hello, I... - Osteoporosis Support
fosamax/strength training
I'd imagine it's a combination of both. I managed to raise my spine t score by 0.4 with strength training alone, although my hip got worse, so I'm planning to do much more impact exercise to help there.
Hi, photographer94, Thanks for your sharing, like to ask what strength training you are doing?
hello winterling .... we have an LA fitness close by and with silver sneakers a free membership. I work out every other day using machines and free weights. my husband knows the equipment well and helps ensure I am using the machines correctly. didn't love it at first but after a couple months, I now really enjoy it and feel strong @ 66. many gyms offer a few free personal training sessions to learn how to use the equipment. I also play pickle ball a few times/week. I will stay on the fosamax for now but would prefer to discontinue it if my doctor agrees. do you do strength training?
