That’s when I was told I had osteoporosis. Tried two meds. Problems .

So I understand that like to know if I can get some remote hope of being able to walk in a store , drive ?

Sorry this is sloppy just need some hope. Yes going to specialist more appts coming up. Just need some hope. Think they want to do procedure. Lay man’s term glue fracture for more support for spine. Has anyone have that done.

hope you all have a wonderful day.

thank you

mpression fracture L2. No falls but picked up grandson and felt pain. Currently diagnosed with osteoporosis. Not taking meds due to reading side effects. Using Super cal Plus from Nutritional Frontiers and magnesium complex from Natural Creations and Osteoguard from Douglass laboratories. Don't know if it's working since i have only been on for a short time. Vibration plates are supposed to be helpful and diet is supposed to help in addition to strength training. Good Luck

I wish I had info to help you but I actually have questions for you. My T-8 compression fracture was diagnosed in Sept, 2022. I’m concerned because I’m babysitting my 7 month old granddaughter three days a week. How heavy was your grandchild when you got your fracture? I have cut down on my activities but I feel like I’m still hurting my back every day. I’m afraid of the results when I get a new xray. My doctor prescribed Prolia but I’m too afraid of the risks, especially the dental damage. I’m taking supplements including vitamin D, C, Calcium, Magnesium… I have not heard of the “glue” treatment but sounds interesting

I hope you’re feeling better and please update treatment and results.

don’t know how you will manage but do not lift baby. Grandson was 20 lbs or less. Once you have a spinal fracture easy to fracture again since spine is weakened . It happened again with one move I was told not to do. One second I forgot. Also my first one effected walking use cane, difficult to stand up straight. Best would be go to a physical therapist they will tell what is safe and how to lift, walk ,bend. Very important to know how bad it can be. Best to you.

Hi and can share my experience… I was put o Prolia 7 years ago for osteoporosis due to cancer treatment. After 5 years and a lot of research I decided to stop. I did have improved dexa scans. I did not like the idea that your bones revert when you stop. My doc prescribed a shot of reclast. I am due for my 2 year dexa scan this spring. Fingers crossed. Take bone meal from New Zealand, vit D, and eat lots of organic leafy greens (lots of lean meat and fish too.

Talking to others I learn that Prolia can work for the older, very fragile diagnosed with osteoporosis. Thing is, you will never go off it. The side effects are not horrible. Jaw problems are associated with much higher doses given to bone cancer patients. Prolia can really help the very fragile. Do not wind up in a nursing home with your bones falling apart. I had 2 major falls in the last 2 years and didn’t break anything. I am in limbo about my bones and other things, hate it. It affects my life.

I had a thoracic fracture. Got glued. (Khylopasty )Diagnosed with osteoporosis at 78! Second fracture 6 months later. Glued again. Started @increasing exercise, supplements. Endocrinologist recommended various drugs. After first fracture primary doctor prescribed fosomax. Stopped taking after learning about all these dangerous side effects from these drugs. So far no further problems. I’m still on the fence it would like to think that a natural regimen could reduce more fractures. Scared to death of getting another one. It’s a conundrum. I’m looking for answers and why I joined this forum.

The Khylopasty was not painful mainly because they put me out. The most painful thing was getting on the table for the procedure. It really is a miracle procedure. I walked out of the hospital 3 hours later with most of the pain gone. 4-5 weeks for healing. During that time a wire a brace at the beginning but stopped after a week. Was real careful about bending at the waist. An d lifting. Good luck. You will be amazed.

I've had two fractures & yes, I shop, drive, do quite a bit. I wish I could have surgery as it can be quite successful but I am not a good candidate because of my weak bones. See what the specialist says. There is hope.
